Re: Iraq now Available for Pre-Order

Great post Xpen. It's worth mentioning that ED is selling RazBam's modules without RB support, and so they are also screwing the customers. It's my understanding that people buying F-15, Harrier, or Mirage will not get updates for these modules because RazBam is providing support since they are unpa...

Re: Need to buy a new gaming headset

After a weekend of trying these out, I think what I paid for is the sound quality and the durability. The sound isn't life changing or anything, and definitely doesn't rise to audiophile quality, but it is rock solid. The aluminum frame seems sturdy and the headset is comfortable. If I'm being sting...

Re: Iraq now Available for Pre-Order

It's just too easy to respond to these explanations with justifiable criticism of ED's business. The Super Carrier comes to mind. It's still incomplete and how long has it been out? How many years did the Gazelle go without the promised sniper seat? The F-16 is still missing basic required elements ...

Re: Need to buy a new gaming headset

I think I’ve settled on these. Well, they don’t offer the bells and whistles of my old logitech G930’s, All reviews indicate that they offer Excellent audio quality with a broad spectrum, well-balanced sound profile. They’re only stereo, but I never really use the surround sound option on my Logite...

Re: Iraq now Available for Pre-Order

Their business model is unsustainable and terrible, IMO. I won’t be buying anything new for DCS any time soon.

Re: Need to buy a new gaming headset

Hey Recluse! Thanks for chiming in with this recommendation. Yes, I've been eyeing the Hyper X line. How do you find the volume on yours? One of my few complaints about my G930's is that the top end volume is a bit quieter than I would like. Not that I want ear drum shattering volume, but it would b...

Need to buy a new gaming headset

Hi guys,

I’m in the market for a new gaming headset. I currently own a Logitech G series and thinking I just might go with another pair.

But before I do so, I thought I would check in to see if you all have recommendations. Looking for something in the $75-130 range.

Re: Won't be on tonight 9/25

The struggle is real, especially if you're a parent! Totally empathize, although I have no children of my own. Just a stack essays that I just finished. I refuse to go without dinner, and so you're a saint in my book. I'm zonked. I will try to make it next week.

Won't be on tonight 9/25

Hi guys, I had hoped to make it tonight, but I'm still grading papers and haven't had dinner yet. I'm also just wiped out. I was out late last night for "Back to School" night and so I'm still feeling jet lagged from that. Sorry, I will try to make it next week. Grif. EDIT: I'm also going ...

Not making it tonight to DCS

Hi all, First of all, I am back from my section hike in Colorado. I did the first eight sections, 142.8 miles, of the Colorado Trail. I plan to go back some day and do more. I then spent some time with my wife here at home, and so I wasn't really around to fly. Unfortunately, last night I didn't get...

So, ED took the one thing that wasn't a problem in DCS and screwed it up instead of fixing the longstanding, known problems. Awesome.

Re: Goingto need a new computer, I guess

I guess you're taking a bigger risk compared to upgrading but I'm not sure how to quantify that. the IT gurus here probably better to offer advice. I was just weighing in on what we are doing. Okay, thanks Creeper. Appreciate the feedback. Sorry for my delay in replying. Trichome, Unfortunately, my...

Re: Goingto need a new computer, I guess

Hi Cr33p3r, But Windows 10 is still supported at the moment. I mean I would attempt to stretch using this windows 10 machine past October 2025, when Microsoft will stop supporting it, by simply using a third party antivirus. Would that be enough to avoid trouble, or am I going to need to upgrade the...

Re: Goingto need a new computer, I guess

Had a thought this morning. I think the major concern in October of 2025 will be the lack of antivirus updates. I suppose the OS will be more prone to exploitation as well? Would it be foolish to put off upgrading the computer by simply getting lean and mean (Not McAfee, not Norton) antivirus softwa...

Re: Supercarrier Update

Controlling the lights may be useful if we're flying night or bad weather ops. Plane directors in multiplayer are probably not necessary. I likely won't wait as we're in a hurry.

Re: Goingto need a new computer, I guess

Right Bones, it would be in addition to DCS, but I may choose to only play Elite Dangerous. I only have time to play one game. I will write more later on. Still thinking about it.

Re: Goingto need a new computer, I guess

So far, I haven’t seen a significant need for more RAM than 32GB, but I’m sure the increasing demands of some of these maps will may require it. It will depend also on what we’re playing. I only have time to play one game right now.

Re: Goingto need a new computer, I guess

Apparently, they are going to cease security support as of October 14 2025.

I still have a year to figure out my next build, I guess. Obviously I’m in a budget and will not be doing a complete rebuild. Probably just Mobo and CPU. I might invest in DDR5 RAM, but the DDR4 might be okay..
