Re: Intel I9 or Intel Core Ultra Processors
I have an i7 and it works great for me. The i9 would have been overkill. I think most gamers who go the Intel route don't have i9's. i7 would be more common.

Re: Small Hotfix Today 11.05.24
Getting older has its cons. Yesterday my 7th grader asked for some help with her science project where she had to make a rubber band car with cd disc's for wheels and a cardboard base and some straws and skewers for axles. In a span of about 10 minutes, I somehow managed to cut myself with a pair of...

Re: Small Hotfix Today 11.05.24
Thanks for the heads up. I'm not going to be on tonight due to it being my son's 6th birthday, and we're going out to dinner. Hope to catch you all next week!

Re: Iraq now Available for Pre-Order
The laundry list of things that ED has announced they are working on but never delivered is long. Dynamic campaigns... mentioned several years ago and we haven't see anything since. Combined Arms is essentially dead and abandoned - hasn't been worked on for how many years now? It's still very incomp...

Re: Iraq now Available for Pre-Order
The new preorder is already being called "Semiraq" by some because the early access release will likely resemble only 1/4 of the country with the rest of the data completely missing, just as "Halfghanistan" is now. I read that the Afghanistan map was supposed to be complete by no...

Re: AV-8B cockpit build
Had to break this out into 2 posts. I designed pockets into the 3d printed parts to accommodate the lenses, and those pockets are actually angled 15 degrees in the real plane. This is because the UFC gets mounted parallel with the main instrument panel, which is angled away from the pilot. So the 15...

Re: AV-8B cockpit build
Finally making some physical progress on my UFC. I bought a 3mm thick sheet of semi-transparent acrylic, spray painted 1 side of it with 3 coats of matt black paint. Then I took it to the Makerplace we have in town (run by the local library) and laser engraved then laser cut the lenses for the indic...

Re: Won't be on tonight 9/25
I totally get that. Wednesdays have become pretty busy for me as well. I have to race home from downtown Chicago (I have to get on a shuttle bus, then get on a train, then get in my car), run inside and put my son's cleats on his feet and drive him to flag football practice. That doesn't end until o...

Re: AV-8B cockpit build
I have started modeling the annunciators and master caution and master warn lights / buttons that get installed on either side of the UFC.
Work in progress and not done!

Re: AV-8B cockpit build
I finally started laser cutting some panels from acrylic. Each panel requires 3 separate plates. The bottom plate has additional 3mm holes in it to take little LED lights for the backlighting. The middle layer has these same holes, but also has wider holes for each switch and knob so that they can a...

FreeCAD 1.0.0 rc1
This is neat. So all of the CAD (computer aided design) I have been doing for my Harrier cockpit has been in the free and open source tool called FreeCAD, which has been around for like 22 years. They just released their 1.0 version (1.0.0 release candidate 1) yesterday. Why am I telling you this? B...

It's an offshoot of what used to be called Indian Princesses (for dads and their daughters) or Indian Guides (dad's and their sons) normally associated with the YMCA something like 80 years ago. My specific organization is Big Waters Federation, and we split off from the YMCA back in the '80's, but ...

Unfortunately I have to attend a Chief's meeting as the Nation Elder on Wednesday (to make sure new Nation Chief doesn't forget anything), and so I won't be on. Drop a few warheads on foreheads for me!

Re: AV-8B cockpit build
The UFC is starting to come together. The parts shown here equate to more than 120 hours of 3d printing time! part 1 - 40 hours part 2 - 30 hours part 3 - 20 hours part 4 - 16 hours part 5 - 9 hours display parts - ??? Still need to print the keys, knobs, and laser cut the panels. And design and pri...

Yes, quite interesting to see that this was taken out of context on purpose to make you think he was lying. He was actually talking about being there while he was visting as a congressman. This has been thoroughly debunked, but it keeps being spread to make people think he is lying. This is literall...
