New lag problems

All,
I would like to suggest some testing.

How about connecting up to a server that has just mech pak installed folks and see if the lag is there?

Then connect up to a server with just the point release installed and see if the lag is there?

It may well be that it is just because of mixing the two...

Also, can just the point release be installed if you have the mech pak cd? This may be important for those that have slow connections to the internet.

I have asked Oblivion to check the leagues to see if they are requiring the mech pak or just the point release. I am pretty sure it is just the point release. Then we can start to work with the leagues on trying to fix this for league games, and can have just the point release for practices/skirmishes. I know - the new mechs are cool...but :sad:

Also, I understand that you should check your graphics settings to ensure they are proper - it seems that installing the patch/mechpack will reset them - maybe at too high of a setting.

Another way to do it, would be to host up a game, check the lag. Host another game on the same machine, this time disallowing the new chassis, weaps, and electronics, and check the lag again. Host up the Pak game again, and compare lag against baseline from 1st game. I'm thinkin those cool little nipple rings on the highlander's knees, might not be so cool after all. Render render render...

PPL will have to advertise Pak games like NH/UA probably.

As for JUST installing the patch from disk?
I dunno, will have to look.
