At present this is an observation but feel free to add in your own experiences.
Well we all know the heat management in mercs was screwed up before giving you the ability to fire all the time and never die from overheating. Well from the few games I've played since the patch came out I've noticed that if you run your mech up to the top of the heat scale, regardless of what you do you'll now shutdown. Example, peak out the heat bar to the top of the scale (to the point where old sexy voice says shutdown imminent) and then flush it down to the yellow and hey presto you still shutdown. I've also noticed that if a mech blows up next to you and heats you up to the point where u shutdown then your mech will not restart (even if the heat bar goes back to green) all your mech does is keep powering up then down again.
Let me your experiences.

did you hit the Override BEFORE starting your flush?
The game is a lot stricter with screwing around with your heat now, if you muck around, you will get shafted.
Hitting control-O is a pain in the ass, so I remapped my override key to a joystick button, and as soon as I get into the red I start hammering it even as i flush the coolant.
I've yet to experience the problem you fellows have.

Well if a fusion reactor is detonated next to you of course there is going to be heat.
I don't flush unless I am in the middle of a fight at close range. If I am in a sniping match I can just duck behind cover wait a few seconds then start shooting again.
I have had no problems w/the heat bug.
