It’s been Two weeks

Has it been two weeks already ?.......Image

It seems not much has changed around these parts. Ever see that old Nissan 300 ZX commercial. That kid is browsing over the car with a hand touch saying , “ Someday , ...Someday ) Next I’ll be back to stake a claim here for ownership. Maybe I could throw in some disco lights and party girls to liven up the place.

Talking about Nissans , I finally got mine up and running these last few days. I tried to rebuild the old engine but it kept requiring more and more parts. Near the end , after I found out that most of the old lifters seized on it ( about $40 a piece with 12 lifters per head) I said the heck with that. I wanted to just throw in the towel right then and there. ( or put some C4 on the fire wall and send it off a tall cliff )

Fortunately , I found a good deal on a used engine from a wrecking yard near by and hooked up on that. Thank goodness that it turned out to be a clean running smoothie. Now I have it up for sale and am tinkering with it from time to time. Lots of neighbors have noticed me out in the drive way these last few weeks. I have had a couple few of them stop by and shoot the breeze with me or ask me if I could work on their vehicle too. I think it might have had something to do with renting the engine hoist the other day. I was out there in my drive way wearing my uniform with an ASE patch strapped on the sleeve hoisting an engine in the air. Must have been an eye catcher for the for some of the regular travelers.

Any hoo , I’m starting to get to know them better. I talked to this guy around the corner from me and ended up working on his old full size Chevy Blazer. My first ever side job I think. It was an easy front main seal job. You would be amazed of the price hike in Auto labor here in California these last few years. Most of the Automotive shops around here are charging between $65 to $75 for an hours labor and upping the labor time on top of that. Guess that’s what happens when you live in a broke state.

Well , enough said . I was just in a better mood tonight and wanted to post one up. I hope all is well for you guys. I apologize for being absent from internet games. Soon as I get caught up here , I’ll start buying the latest games and catch up with ya.

Regards Falker

yea things are slow on the forums and Kali. i havnt been on TS2 voice coms but i bet thats where most of the action is now days. i havnt been on our TS much becuse the outfit i joined up with in planetside use their own voice servers. the one on the west coast server uses TS2 and the one on the European server uses ventrilo ( a nice voice coms BTW ) I still hook up with Bron on Planetside once in awhile and we go kick butt. but realy it works best when you got alot of ppl in a squad to go do things. i hoped that there would of been more interest from the ppl i used to play mechwarrior with on the game. but i know that for the most part mechwarrior was the commom ground that drew us togather. ive tried and tried again to get my PC to work with the mektek mech pack and it just wont do it :(
ive never been a consol gamer so there goes the idea of the Xbox. wife might enjoy it and i know the kids would go nutzoid, but they are realy too young to take care of something like that.

its cool to hear you got your nissan going hehe. there is something about hard work and ocomplishment that always makes me feel good when i get done. propably why i build houses and remodel. there is just something to either starting out with a POS or a empty lot and then standing back looking at a masterpiece of creation when your done ;)

on doing side jobs. better watch it man before you know it that may end up a full like of work and ppl lined up down the block wanting work done hehe. a buddy of mine did that and this is in back woods eastern oregon and he still charged $50 and hour shop time with a min of 1 hour. thats where i learned most of my shade tree mechanicing hehe.

just to keep you updated on what i know is going on...

i still check forums daily, along with email. about once a week i look at mektek forum in hopes of finding something hopefull on the PC mechwarrior front.. there are some interesting things in the works but its not mechy...

Bron busy doing contracts and makeing things. he got me hooked on this planetside thing ( the bum)

Featherhorse just got a new system going but has to build PCs for his wife and kids before he gets games installed but he did stop by kali the other nite and that was realy cool.

Mince shows up on kali fairly often but i never seem to hook up with him. either im away or he is. i would guess he is off with that cute kid of his hehe. for me that was always the funnest time being a dad....

Buff just got done with some huge battle tech thing.. he has a forum post about it. although i dont have a clue about battle tech board games i do know he painted some damn fine mechs!

oh and almost forgot, once in awhile i run across Malin on the Euro server on planetside. he is back to being his mellow self. and been a pleasure the few times ive been able to play with him.

thats about it hehe...

Average price from a main dealership over here is a round £70 and hour, which works out around $125! Then you have the fun of adding in parts!

Some of the 151 did look at the Planetside mularkey, BH, but it seems to be easier to become a member of the KKK and the Black Panthers than to get in a game. As we (151) are gearing up for another GR tournament the Planetside adventure has taken a back seat.

My absence from Kali is down to, well, Kali really! I tried to join for my late night chat with the old tree hugger but got told that I needed a new version. I dutifully d/l'd it and guess what? Yep, true to form, it don't work now. I miss jabbering with BH as I drink my cocoa and prepare for nodland.
