Hi all.
I just came home from a big exercise with alot of elements from the whole swedish army, somedays we dident have mutch to do so we had some advanced combat training including live rounds smoke and frag grenades, cleaning out bunkers.... with a very fast speed, the andrenaline (spelling) was high the speed also and then mistakes started to happen one friend of mine got a live grenade 6 feet away from him and he got inte schock so he was standing and just watching the grenade and screaming he was frozen to the ground fortunatly one of the drill sargeants saw what happen and manage to grab my friend and throw him behind a small hill next by the second later the greande went off, no one was hurt.
another guy throwed a fosfor grenade and got fosfor in his face, he got lucky to just get small burndamage in his face,
another friend got a M-240G fired next to his ear and was lucky that he diodent get any hearing damage.
me and my unit almost tiped over with our transport truck we that were sitting in the back would have surley get killed.
I heard some stories from the officers about guys that have died or got badly wounded in army and thats on exercises not war.
i have 6 active weeks left in my service and next week we gonna have a week that we call "FUSA" in sweden we gonna live in the woods and have live fire exercises and its gponna be very advanced, we done this things before training all day long attacking, defending, all weapond systems we have in the group we gonna use, carl gustav, LAW, M240.. grenades
the thing that worries me is that in the begining evryone had so mutch respect for the weaponds and the safty now when we get more and more experienced i feel that some people might get to confident and thats when the accidents starting to happens,
2 weeks ago a friend accidently fired a shoot in our room fortunatly it wasent a live round next time he maybe wont be so lucky and he have alive round .
i can honestly say that im a littlebit afraid for the next exercise i dont know maybe i am a coward but as i see it there aint no exercise in the world that is worth dieing for this aint real war this is an exercise
i have applied for Peacekeeping mission in Kongo and Kosovo but to get shoot in an exercise thats something that shoudent happend.
ok enough rant:)
as i said earlier in this message i only got 6 weeks 7 if you count this week i have off.
now its time to decide what to do in the future i have applied for Kosovo and Kongo but it seems they dont want to get people that is freshed baked from service and want to take pople alittlle older with more life experience so its not a big chance i will be able to do that this year.
I also applied for officer in P6 = sjätte pansar regementet, =6th tank regiment and so far i have passed the first tests now i just need to talk to a shrink and a a room full off officers that want to know why i want to do that and stuff like that. i also need to pass the running tests and stuff like that but i dont see any problem, the only problem as i see is that alot of people fighting for a very few places and i dont have any experience about tanks they will first take poeple that have served in their own lines first.
another thing that one of my Captains recomended me was either going to the US or the French foreing legion he had 2 friends in the legion, so its a tough choice specially since that would force me to leave my famaly and friends to ground that is totaly new for me.
man this message strating to get abit long so ithink its time to end this
Bye

folks get killed in training - it is fact. it will always happen, just try to make sure it does not happen because iof you and watch the people around you...don't let them do stupid things.
tanks are cool, similar to being in charge of an IFV, but a lot bigger gun!
not sure how you would be able to get into the US military, unless there is some type of exchange program or some such. i had also considered the french foreign legion a couple of times, but nowadays i don't want much to do with France... it is a tough way to go, but they are good.

hi
I went to the embassy in Stockholm and checked their website and they had alink for a "earopean recruiting detatchment" and it looks ok they send me some links one to where i could try to appply for a Resident Alien Card (I-551 Green Card)
and some other stuff.
Next thing to do is go go to stockholm and talk to them face to face to see the the different oppertunetis.
One army friend of mine have afriend that talked with the embassy and it was all ok and hes heading now for Marine recon.
Yes i feel the same about the french guverment and the legion is a bit strange and i dont trust them so thats something i dont want to do.
