Ok. with that fourth case, the Aerocool, with the side mounted fans...would i need to get a front fan as well?

EDIT, I think I see a sheet metal mount for a front fan in the box no? (see pic)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Showimage ... e+-+Retail

watcha think, 120mm? I could have the air sucking in and then blowing out the back with two 120mm?

no, you would not need any additional fans with that case...it comes with the three on the side panel and looks like the 120 on the back. that is enough. i don't really see any place to mount one on the front anyway...

See my pic above. YOu see the round thing in the front? well I can always buy it later if I need too.

OTHER THOUGHT: what about the HDDs ABOVE the PSU there...that a concern?

I see the fan mount you are talking about ... looks like a 120.

I don't think there would be an issue with the power supply -- it's in the back and the drives are in the front. Those aren't the two warmest components in your case I wouldn't think.

FWIW: I like that case (aerocool) from what I can see.

you mean the HDDs aren't the warmest, right? Okay. Sounds like I might have a winner here. I think I'll wait 24hours to see if anyone posts any other opinions here...then I'll buy it. My friend can help me install I think. :-) Any other thoughts before I drop a 100 bucks is always appreciated. Thanks for all your help these last 6 months with this terrible issue. I really appreciate the effort guys. If I can return the favor, let me know.

here is the manufacturers site:

http://www.aerocool.us/p-case/masstige/masstige.htm

nice! if you decide to go btx later, they have a btx kit for it!

actually it might come with a fan in the front. look at the pics on the manufacturers site - more clear (not as may though).

Well, nothing to add now, the guys have covered everything there.
Steel is very right about CPU heatsinks - not somewhere you really want to go if you don't have to, and I don't think you want that much involvement do you? CPU/GPU/Northbridge heatsink changes are generally made by people who are running their systems hotter than normal, by overclocking for example. There is no super-science about it. Most heatsinks are reviewed on a regular basis by a lot of mags, individuals on clocking forums and so on, so you can always pick out the best one for your needs and pocket - the problems arise when you don't mount/secure the heatsink properly - fried chips (and I don't mean french fries either!)

Yea, I think I'm gonna go with the Aero cool and hold off on the power supply for now. If I find I need more power, I'll charge the extra PSU...or maybe I'll charge the whole lot now. I'll figure it out. Least I know what I'm buyign now. thanks guys for all your help!

As long as what help I offer doesn't bring you more trouble mate, then the time typing the message was worth it. 8)

Cool! Like someone has commented there too, I'll be trying to find something with modular cabling for my next upgrade in PSU. Simply because the bird's nest you always find with PSUs does get in the way of the PC being cooled efficiently.

I trust that question is for Grifter to show you what case he's purchased? And not my stating a case for purchasing a modular cable PSU?

I ordered the Aerocool we were looking at, I should have it in a day or two. Then will come the difficult task of swapping everything over to the new unit. I have no skill/experience with doing this, so it may be a week until my friend can come and help.

It's not rocket science mate, and there are a few decent books around will show you exactly how to do it without any real trouble. Infact, amongst us, am sure we could have you putting that thing together in a jiffy. These days Win XP makes a lot of the troublesome tasks very easy.

'jiffy'. The time it takes light to travel one centimetre in a vacuum.

Uhm... yeah I'm just moving the guts of my computer from one case to the other, why would I have to do anything with Winxp? See? I really should wait for someone to help if I gotta do something with WinXP. lol

No mate, I'm talking about starting at the beginning and building a new system. But if all you are doing is moving the guts, then it's even easier than that. 8)
