Open House And Air Show At Edwards Air Force Base Oct 28th and 29th: Lancaster CA, 93523
We want to welcome all to join us for our Open House and air show that will be October 28 and 29 2006. This year your Air Force and Department of Defense is engaged on many fronts, all across the globe, to protect freedom, preserve our way of life and thwart the specter of global terrorism. Therefore, all events described could be subject to change or cancellation without notice due to national security, or other issues that would influence our mission.
This year's event highlights one team and one mission of your United States Air Force. This year will feature the U. S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Golden Knights and the one of a kind aircraft Edwards tests for the force of tomorrow. In addition to this, a full day of other aerial demonstrations celebrating Edwards long history of contribution to the U.S. Air Force and the national defense as a whole is scheduled. Additionally we are celebrating the 60th year of the founding of the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center
The air show boasts nearly 100 static displays with more than 20 flying performances and several hours of non-stop flying thrills. There will be more than double the flying and four-times the static displays of most open houses west of the Mississippi.
In addition to showcasing the aircraft systems and capabilities of the Air Force Flight Test Center, NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, we will also feature the Air Force Research Laboratory Propulsion Directorate, Marine Aircraft Group 46 and other local and visiting units.
Most of our aircraft you will see at this year's show are already forging the way in the Global War on Terror. Among them: the Predator, Global Hawk, B-52 Stratofortress, B-1B Lancer, B-2 Spirit, F-16, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130J Hercules and others. Also, many more such as the F-22A, the Global Hawk, the , and others can be seen this year and are the future of our Air Force.
Parking is free and bleachers will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Temperatures typical for the scheduled weekend are expected to be in the mid-70s.
Freeways from Los Angeles and the Inland Empire generally are not crowded. People driving can usually maintain highway speeds all the way to Rosamond, our West Gate, and on Highway 58 to our North Gate.
