Using Chkdsk

Post by Grifter »

I'm trying to use chkdsk, but when it finishes it reboots so quickly that I can't read the report. Could anyone tell me how I either stop the reboot so I can read the information or find a log file on my HD so I can read it?

This probably wont help. After re-reading your post again I don’t think it will.

Restart your system and try again. Many computer manufacturers use the DELETE, ESC, F1, or F2 keys. If your keyboard features the F-LOCK key, make sure it is enabled before attempting to use a function key to access the BIOS. Besides the delete key , I’m not sure which one of those other keys I hit but it stopped my Bios load up for several seconds so I could see what was loading. Good Luck.

In XP, open the Control Panel, double click on "Adminstrative Tools", double click on the "Event Viewer" icon, then click on "Application". In the "Source" column, look for the "Winlogon" item. Double click it and you should see the results of your Chkdsk.
