Acrylic Case, good or bad?

I'm making a list of parts for my wife's new computer, and she wants this case:

Is this a potential cooling problem? Grounding problem? I have never used an Acyrlic case before, so I wanted to get some opinions on it before I tell her yes or no.

Well all the components have grounding wires to the power supply's ground to the wall. the case can't conduct electricity so hey no worry about that.

colling, its again like a steal case, they have fan ports and such, so I don't think it will bee a huge difference unless you have it in the sun.

Besides that, really you should not worry about things liek that to much, as the cases have been out for years, and they seam like nice toys any time I have had the opportunity to look close up.

The issues now:

1: Finger prints, its like glass, you will see finger prints so thats a pain. You need to use gloves (usually provided with he case) for assembling it

2: scratches, relatively easy to scratch it up, so need to be careful not to scratch the living hell out of it, inside and outside. The motherboard for example can easily scratch it when placing it in the case as the bottom soldered points are sharp. The motherboard will be raised off the surface when mounted but can scratch when putting it in.

Thanks Veg, I think I will be avoiding the Acrylic case. I found this in one of the reviews:

It took me about 2 minutes just to get the side panel off, twelve screws! After taking the side panel off I saw that there were motherboard mounts pre-installed on the back panel. Another disappointment, if the other side panel was needed to be taken off, it require taking off the entire motherboard with it. Other acrylic cases have already solved the issue with the large number of screws and motherboard mount tray and Logisys failed to realize the importance of easy interior access.


I found a possible replacement, it's not Acrylic, but it got good reviews.

There are 300 million americans and we all pronounces it ah-loom-in-um. (ok close enough) How many Brits do you have saying ah-loo-min-ee-um? Clearly the majority is always correct... Besides, we have Bush for president, and he isn't afraid to drop the hammer.

Yeah , but you got to love the way them Brits talk. Their pronunciation in the English language is actually the correct one. Except for when it comes to different ethnic groups.

Considering our pronunciation of the language began to split off over 200 years ago, it's hard to say they say it "correctly." I mean, they don't talk the same way today they did back then, so our way is just as valid as theirs.

Tell some Quebec resident he doesn't talk "correct" French and you'll probably be punched in the face.
