Sword & Sandal Epics

Post by PanzerMeyer »

So which ones are your all time favorites? Mine are "300", "Gladiator", "Troy" and "Clash of the Titans".

I loved the movie "The last samari"
I an't seen a lot of the new ones like 300 and troy. But do own a copy of gladiator which was decent but not a all time best. there are also some older samari based movies but names escape me currently that are good.

Well, samurai movies are a separate genre. "Sword & Sandal" movies specifically refer to movies which deal with ancient Rome or Greece. :-)

300 is an awesome watch. Clash of the titans is great too. Not typically sword and sandal, but of a similar vein were the various voyages of sinbad films, they were always good for a watch.
Also, if you're looking for a good rome/greece based drama, the BBC made a series called 'Rome', dunno if it's hit stateside yet, but you could look into it.

Are you sure? I read online that "Rome" is over. They did 2 seasons and that's it. I have "Rome" in my Netflix queue though so I'll watch it eventually.
