The Dark Knight

Post by Softball »

We saw this last night at the midnight showing. If you plan on seeing it, prepare to be amazed. This is by far the best Batman movie ever, perhaps the best superhero movie ever. I was absolutely blown away by Heath Ledgers performance, he was absolutely amazing as the character of The Joker. He played the character so well, they could have called the movie "The Joker". I pretty much forgot I was watching a Batman movie. I'm still in awe from watching it.

I'm guessing it is going to blow away the 3 day box office record, whatever that is.

I think there's a very good chance that Dark Knight will beat both Iron Man and Indiana Jones 4 for the top grossing movie of the year.

Yes, I heard on the radio that is has already passed as the top pre-sale movie of all time. I thought the movie blew away Ironman overall. I can't remember the last time I was blown away by a movie like The Dark Knight.

I think the fact that this is Heath Ledger's last movie will boost the numbers, as you will most likely have people who are Heath Ledger fans that will want to see it regardless of the Batman story.

I predict The Dark Knight will top box office sales for the next few months. Too bad for X-Files, heh.

I'm not worried about that at all and it really wont hurt X-Files since the majority of people who will go see it are fans of the show. They will watch it regardless of whether or not Dark Knight is out. Plus, X-Files is not a competitor to Dark Knight since they are two movies that appeal to different crowds.

I know, what I meant was that The Dark Knight will surpass X-files in box office sales in week 2 of it's release.

I plan on seeing X-files next weekend.

Oh, of course. There's no doubt about that! However, the budget for the X-Files movie was a very modest 35 million so its sure to make a very nice return at the box office. :-)

What was the budget for The Dark Knight? How do you find that info out?

Best place to check is boxofficemojo.com or IMDB.com. I think DK's budget was about 150 million.

I still have to see Iron Man, whenever that comes out.
TDK was indeed a great film, I'll see XF tomorrow.

Right now, the next "must see" for me is Quantum of Solace. I plan on seeing a couple of others before that comes out, but if I miss them it won't be that painful. Missing QoS would be!

The budget for The Dark Knight was somewhere in the 185 million range.

You are correct. That 150 million figure I got from boxofficemojo but often times they are preliminary estimates so they are often wrong.

I have no doubt the next Bond film will rock. Just too bad the title is so stupid!

I finally watched this last Sunday night. It's an outstanding comic book movie with some great performances by all of the main cast members except for Maggie Gyllenhall. She was just "there". Ledger made a great Joker but all the hype about him being nominated for an Oscar is unjustified IMHO.
