require admin activation for account?

should i change user registration to admin allowed? it adds workload, and some folks do not like the fact that they have to wait until activated to post, but persistant asses like valium there (post deleted) will still go through the process of typing in the digits displayed on the screen (at least that prevents bots form registering).
so, does it warrant admin activation of accounts?
Grif,
can i get your help to activate folks?

Steel (and others)
I check the forums every single day. So I would be more than happy to help you in this regard. Since I've never used this feature before, however, PM if it requires more than common sense to get it to work.

not really Tach. all those require more work than a simple e-mail auth request to join the fourms, and the bots are already stopped by the visual type-in-the-number validation before clicking register...
plus, if you add mods it can make it dificult to upgrade.

Oh just an email auth? Piece of cake, sure Steel I'll be glad to help.

well, no - i am not sure if it is just e-mail. i know it requires admin approval - probably a link to go to and click approve or some such. i have never had the need to use the feature before, but i doubt it is difficult.

Yes ! , I Want full Admin Status with all the rights and privileges that I have coming to me. Thank You Thank You !
Woot !
Oh were not talking about that ? .. =/
Okay Never Mind , NEVER MIND ! Don’t get excited =p
PS.
I think you should know by this time what’s best Steel. I’m not even sure what your suggesting here with out more clarification seeing how I know nothing about this. Might want to give a more detailed descriptions or a web link about this workload. Just don’t allow them to post in your forum without registering first!

folks already can not post without registwering first. i have visual confirmation activated (you know - the silly alphanumeric you have to type in before clicking the button), but some spammers are pretty persistent. so if we do admin activation, then means a forum admin must approve a user before they are allowed into the forums... extra workload and extra time that may frustrate some new users, but would altogether (unless they get past the admins) stop the spam...

Have to say, although it may be extra workload, it appears from what brief discussion so far, that it is the only real way to stop the persistent spamming types. If I knew what to do, I'd be happy to help out, just need someone to run me through it once or twice. If you decide you want the help let me know, but I don't think that I'd need admin rights for anything apart from that, not me.
