" '...to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale! Thus, I give up the spear!' " (Melville, Moby Dick).

Because they use the word 'thee' a lot; like at 1:1 thee to sentence [fragment] ratio? You've been drinking again, haven't you? Stop reading that senseless drivel and fly.

Lol , you should have seen ELH back in the day. Half the Crew were Drunk half the time o_0.. It rotated from the upper command to the others in a heart beat. I remember this one guy from Canada ( not Veg - forgot his name) who posted drunk all the time. Lmao, I could hardly make out what he was saying, but you know, he was one of the best Mech Warriors we had.

Anyways , that’s a nice quote from Star Trek.

It's actually from Moby Dick as I cited; however, yes, Khan does an excellent job delivering the line in Star Trek...one of my favorite soliloquies in modern film.

Hudson said that you may have drank too much tonight Grifter. Is that true?

actually I'm not drinking tonight.

I thought he was, but he spelt 'soliloquies' properly (note I have been drinking too much and so used cut and paste, rather than attempt such a thing) so I guess he hasn't been. Instead he's just a classic literature lovin' tart. But then we all already knew that.

I didn't enjoy reading Shakespeare when I was in high school simply because I didn't understand a lot of what I was reading but I definitely love Shakespeare on film!!

1. Romeo + Juliet (directed by Baz Luhrmann). Loved it
2. Throne of Blood (Kurosawa adaptation of Macbeth). Amazing movie
3. Ran (Kurosawa adaptation of King Lear). Amazing movie
4. Henry V (Kenneth Brannagh). Great movie
5. Hamlet (Mel Gibson and Kenneth Brannagh versions). Very good

Refer to my original post, where I called it "senseless drivel"; there is NOTHING to understand...

Crazies like Grifter seek meaning in the meaningless. It's like staring at the static on a TV trying to see and hear the alien signals...

It's neither meaningless nor drivel. There is plenty to understand, but oh well...you can't get everyone to see that.

It's also the only novel quoted twice in the Star Trek movies (see ST: First Contact).
