When you were supposed to put two spaces between each sentence? Ya, I missed the memo where that changed...

I just went straight to the source:
http://www.mla.org/style/style_faq/style_faq3

They don't say their is anything wrong with either, though the world is leaning towards one rather than two now.

ok from the wackey Canadian in the group, in school we always where told 1 space, no one ever and I mean ever told me anything about 2 spaces. One period then a space then move on with life. 2 spaces, wacky Americans.

if I'm not mistaken, MLA is A source, not THE source. It all comes down to convention.

Gator's right. Depends on the discipline or science. The MLA is for people who practice within the Humanities, such as History, English Language Arts, or Philosophy. However, Psychology uses the APA or American Psychological Assocation.

to add fuel to the fire here. when i was a little kid, first grade etc. got in a debate with teachers over the proper way to say the word 'the' either "THE" or "THU" one year a teacher drilled me and corrected me to say "THE" then the next, another teacher did the same with the "THU" i tell you im still confused lol :)

so, you guys being the smart edumakated ppl that you are, what way is it?

I always did in live chat on Kali. ( A gaming gathering place ) Only once in awhile people would ask me why. It’s just when typing so fast I’d rather make sure there’s a gap between the words so I double up on the space. After awhile it became force of habit or more routine.

I would say 'The' BH, but then only recently i've been told that i 'talk posh', in other words speak the Queen's English....long a etc, in glass, grass etc so it's gl-ah-ss and gr-ah-ss, as opposed to the stereotypically more working class pronuniciation with a shorter harder a. I guess the years of elocution lessons worked then..for which i'm grateful...a Leicester accent isn't the best one to have :P
