201st needs pilots

Hey all.

The 201st Hunters, our Janes F18 fighter wing needs pilots. I run it like a side project, so it is a laid back unit. We fly Sundays 7pm eastern on, but often I myself cannot make it due to work. With only three or four guys in the unit, I just wanted to invite you all again to come and fly JF18. The more people we got in the air, the more fun it is.

Regards,

Griffy.

JF18 and XP Pro

I was able to install JF18 with XP Pro no problems at all. Believe me, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to install it. Now that I have my newer faster computer, JF18 runs very well, no FPS loss that I can see. Of course I should run the campaign first and then judge.

That's weird it won't install for you. Maybe you have a bad CD?

I would love to fly with you Grif, but 4pm PST (7pm EST) during the week is way too early for me, I dont get off work until 6pm PST. :(

By the way you guys talk about, JF-18 seems like a full step ahead of its predecessor, JF-15. I really would be interested in playing if I had the sim- but money's too tight :( If I pick it up over the summer, I'll be sure to let you know. I've always loved carrier aviation :)

Well remember everyone that our primary flight time is Sunday evenings. If we can do a pickup flight all the better. Anyway, I'll keep the squad going for those interested. Special thanks to the guys in the squad for flying and keeping this good thing going!

Errors

Errors when starting the game? If so, have you tried using the TSH NO CD crack? You have to activate HI RES GRAPHICS 1.2 to enable the NO CD key.

Another thing, I was able to install JF-15 and run it. It looks like hella crap on my 22" monitor at 800x600 @4xFSAA, but it runs. My GOD how graphics have come along in flight sims.

I have this sim, and am currently shifting things around on my drives to make enough space to use it - it will mean a whole new learning curve too.
I am having problems with Falcon 4.0 SP3 online and beginning to despair, maybe this is an alternative solution (until Falcon V or LO-MAC at least! :wink: )

I just reinstalled it myself. When entering a game my field of view automatically goes to the the str8 up 12 o'clock position, I know it wants to go around 360 degree's but it can't, so does anyone remember the fix for this.
I am going to try and get more flight time in this SIMM. Also I won't fly F4 SP3 nor play Ghost Recon. I am trying to keep myself static on two simms and that is OFP and JF-18.

Falcon 4

DA,

What's wrong with Falcon 4? Too tough for ya? :lol:

<rant on>
I don't see why more people don't like Falcon 4, it is because it's too in depth, or to steep a learning curve? How will you ever learn to fly F4 if you don't try? All you have to do is RTFM or fly with someone that can help you learn how. How many sims do you know of that: let you come and go as you please from the server when it is up and running, has a fully functioning dynamic campaign, MULTIPLE FLYABLE AIRCRAFT, several different downloadable campaigns, realistic weapons and avionics, works on most ALL computers, old and new? Man, I could go on and on. I assure you, you will NEVER see another sim like Falcon 4 for a long long time. I think Falcon 4 is the TOP DOG when it comes to flight sims today.
<rant off>

I'm not too sure about your view pointing straight up problem. Have you tried running the game without your joystick plugged in, to eliminate the chance that the joystick might be bad? The last game I remember having this problem was EECH, and that was fixed with a patch. I maybe suggest that you try updating your USB drivers(I am assuming your joystic is USB) or try finding an updated driver for your gameport. I would think that with WinXP Pro, all the necessary drivers would be up to date and installed automatically. Also, what version of DirectX are you running? Try updating your DX and video drivers and see if that helps. I am running Direct X 9 and have no problems to report.

Sorry I can't be more of help DA. Maybe you should try flying Falcon 4, :lol: .

I love F4 actually, a great SIMM that I enjoyed especially when I flew the F-15 with a full load flying at about 600 feet then feel that gentle nudge of the bombs leaving the rack to find there way into the arms my target. I just want to dedicate my time to really get to know OFP and JF-18 like never before.

I will seriously consider F4 as another SIMM to fly. So when will F5 and Lomac grace our computers.

Well I am at a loss to where I can find the option for the POV. Do I look in windows or the game ORION? I am running WINDOWS XP PRO with a WINGMAN ATTACK 2 Stick and I can't find a option to change my POV. I am going to uninstall the stick and create one via specifications from Logitech's website.
