Got my 8800GTX installed

Post by Softball »

One word, AMAZING!

What a difference, it feels like I have a new PC again. I can max out the graphics on just about all of my games (so far), and I'm running at 4xFSAA, 8X ANSIO. I'm getting the max 60FPS that my monitor can handle. Turning up the graphics details in ArmA makes it look like a whole different game.

I had to work on getting the card to fit in my case (The card is 10.5" in length!), it took some moving of wires and careful manipulation. I do not think I could get a 2nd 8800GTX into the case, there's simply no room left to maneuver in the case.

My old card, 7900GTX, has some problems either with the fan (the card is over heating and causing graphical tearing in games) or the texture memory is bad. From what I understand, the manufacturer of my card offers lifetime warranties on their video cards, so I am going to see about getting it fixed. If I can get it fixed, I will likely sell it.

i have an 8800GTS from Asus, upgrading from a 6800. I've not really turned everything up to max yet, but that's more to do with RAM. Only have 1gig atm, so once i've got 2, i'll be pleased with the whole system and run it at the top end.

Congratulations on your new card Softball. Yeah, the 8800 is a big ass video card. Heavy too.
