Attention American Football (NFL) Fans.

Recently, I got involved with a fantasy league through my work and I have to admit that I had more fun than expected. Karen and I are seriously thinking of starting our own Fantasy League using ESPN's services, which are completely free. The league would be purely for bragging rights, no money involved. I'm sure I could do research this spring and set up a draft etc. etc. Anyone here interested in joining? I'm asking early to give you guys time to think it over.

Count me in. I suspect SB would be interested too.

As long as it's only for fun and no money is involved, I'll do it. I assume this is for the remainder of the season?

I thought he said "purely for bragging rights, no money involved" and "I could do research this spring and set up a draft" ...

I'm not into the money leagues either and if we did it this year, it wouldn't be any fun for anybody that didn't have Tom Brady or Randy Moss. Damn Patriots. ;)

I would be interested but I find it odd about a fantasy league starting now with only 6 games remaining in the regular season.

He's talking about for next season, not this season. Thats why he mentioned next spring for the draft. Don't mind me I'm jacked up on coffee on an empty stomach.

Doh, that's correct, he said next Spring. I'm still interested.

wow, does nobody read the initial post?

Apparently not, no...which should make our fantasy league very interesting LOL. Yes I'm talking about next season, and no money is required. This is free and purely for bragging rights. Yes, I plan on researching this more in the spring.

Ok. Now that this season of Fantasy Football (FF) is now over and I'm done playing in my other league, I can now turn my attention to creating my own league.

Those of you still interested in joining, please say so here, and click on the following links for ORIENTATION to ESPN's FF system:

1. http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/welcome?ca ... 101_signup

2. javascript:window.open('http://games-ak.espn.go.com/s/ff101/ff1 ... height=665');void('');

(just cut and paste the second link in the Address bar and it'll open another window).

I will post our League's link so you can join as soon as I have it up and running, which should be soon. I will set an official, live draft date for late July.

By the way, I'm telling you all this now, so you have time to familarize yourself with players, ESPN FF, and anything else you might think necessary.

Look forward to playing with you guys!

I am still interested in joining.

May I invite a co-worker of mine? Or should we keep it strictly RLG?

You may, but there is only room for 10-12 players top. I prefer 10 because it is the best number for this sort of game. I'm going to invite my Dad, Father-in-law, brother-in-laws, Sabre, my sister. I'm willing to bet that only Sabre will actually join, making a two-person league right now. If the others here still join and play it will be a 6 person league total, leaving 6 slots left.

I can't create the league just yet because ESPN has closed up shop for the season. As soon as they do open it, I'll create the league and let you guys know you can join. In the meantime, those interested in joining the league should reiterate their interest, visit the links above, research potential draft picks, and finally, help me choose a name for the league! Make suggestions here.

UPDATE

UPDATE:

1. League has been created. (Thunder Dome)

2. emails will be sent in a moment inviting you to join the league. I used the emails in your profiles here. If the email is wrong, contact me with your new email addi and I'll resend the invite.

3. Go to ESPN.com and register a user-name by clicking on register at the top of the page. Then accept my invitation by clicking on the link in the email I sent you. Follow any on-screen directions (I don't remember if there are any).

4. On the bottom right of our league's main page, there is a Fantasy Football 101 orientation program. Click on it and learn how to play.

5. Orient yourself to our page's features. You'll find that you can study player performance week to week by clicking on their name. You can also get expert advise on who to play and who to bench each week by clicking on player names, reading feature articles, and watching video on the fantasy football main page.

6. Study potential draft prospects. Prepare yourself to draft your team. You will make your selections prior to Aug. 17th I believe, by pre-ranking them, and then they will be auto drafted.

7. It may be wise to review our league rules, see the settings tab on the main page. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me and I'll do my best to help; of course, I'm relatively new at this as well. Good luck!

By way, there may be a few roster spots left for those interested in joining. No guarantees as of yet. I got to find out who Sabre wants to invite as well. We should end up with a 10-12 person league if all goes well.

ok one hand I would love to join in for kicks and giggles but on the other hand all I know about the NFL is that the commercials during the Superbowl are fun to watch.

No the thread is very much alive. Yes, in order to play you'd need some working knowledge of the NFL...or you are prepared to educate yourself on the subject quickly so you don't get killed every week. Still, the league is purely for fun. shrug.

hell I am Canadian and I don't know crap about the CFL, Canadian version of the NFL, but larger field and some different rules, one was explained to me to allow some more fun hits that would not be allowed state side. Now if only I remembered what that was.
