this is what I got, cpu seams happy with it, but no oc yet. ITs not MASSIVE also but its quiet and for the price is a dam good cooler.
Now if you want to do oc then may want to look into something else. OCZ has a new one out that reviews say are great I plan on looking into that sopose to be good. Issue with the top end ones is they make this one look small and its not small by any definition.

I have this one, its a Zalman and watch out installing it....I was bloody afterwards....but damn it looks cool!

not to bitch about the Zalman but in general its been taken off peoples radar's. It was great when it came out but its now a older design and has been outclasses in general. I did a large amount of research on cpu coolers for my system and origionaly I was just going to get a Zalman but once I looked into it I found it was showing its age. Its still a good but there are better.

I have the AMD version of the one Veg posted, it's pretty quiet. Runs at about 2000 RPM.

I also have the freezer 7 pro - what veg posted. Works well. Quiet. Cool. Exactly what i needed. Very inexpensive.

I use a variant that creates a quantum flux and effectively places my cpu slightly out of phase with the space-time continuum; the heat is vented by gravitons into a small pocket dimension. However, I had to employ both a looping program as well as quantum buffers to resolve the nagging delay brought about by the processor being slightly out of shift.
Oh sure, I know what you're thinking, I could've easily used a quantum singularity just above the processor that literally sucks the heat away, but I believe such devices are far too unstable not to mention incredibly dangerous. No responsible computer user should ever use quantum singularities to vent heat lest they want to risk ripping the very fabric of the space time continuum and destroying all of reality as we've come to know it! No, phased variant technology is far more stable and safe. I highly recommend it as it keeps my CPU at a cool .06C!

the 775 method of attaching hat sinks is nice, just puch pins sort of, and this one is easy enough you can do it without taking the motherboard out of the case. some of the bigger ones like that one I returned you had to take motherboard out, that big.
So are you planing on ovr clocking, then I would go bigger if not the artic one is good. another one from coolmaster along the one form artic cooling is this one

I saw lots of good reviews about it putting it about equal and in some casess a little higher then the one everyone owns here
If you ant bigger sinks then I can find the 2 or 3 I remember being the top dogs you would want to go with

it fits tight with the chipset cooler on my 680i, but not too tight that it didn't fit cleanly.

Well I plan on getting the Freezer pro 7. I made the unfortunate mistake of breaking one of the blades on my current 775 cooler and well lets just say the balance get very quarky after a couple hundred revolutions and it sounds like I got a turbine in my pc. Yes I was playing around in it while the computer was running I know better but where is the fun in that if I didn't.

Steel that box it's in looks huge!
Can't remember what size box my AMD freezer pro came in but it don't think it was as big as that, if the cooler fills most of that box you got a big one there mate! Fnar fnar.
On a more serious note, I cant tell from that picture but does it have heat pies like the freezer pro's do?
DA I know you love your PC but you still should not play inside it when it's on! I dread to think what part of you actually got caught on the fan!

One of the power cables, I was moving things around. I voided the warranty by just openning the damn thing up so the support tech tells me. My wife bought me the computer and I wanted to modify it when I added the upgraded power supply and the video card.
I forgot what I was doing at the time but one of the connectors made contact with the turning fan and broke the blade right off. I never thought how much each blade plays into the balance and stability of the fan but I will finally replace it this weekend.

ok can I help to
dumb A$$
never broke a fan, to be honest I would love to see the fan as in all honesty a fan is reletavley hard to break. I have taped fans with thigns before and never broke one.
