If you like naval warfare, then this is one hell of a site for u-boats. Look up just about every boat and tells you even what ships it took out for example.

From this site My Dad was able to figure out that the sub that took out my grandfathers ship was captained by a uboat ace who is still alive to this day, guy even got the iron cross from hitlar himself.

fun part is Grandfather was a enginere working int he engine room in the merchant marine, most people in the engine room where lucky to get out, he was, and was also lucky to get picked up by a passing ship as again convoys where not allowed to stop. So while on the ship that picked him up, guess what the same EXACT sub got them again , and he got picked up again. 2 diffrent ships same crossing and hell same u boat got him 2 times. but he lived

I recommend the books "Iron Coffins" by some Underseaboot captain guy...interesting read

and the book "convoy" by martin middlebrooke about the largest convoy battle that took place during the war.....really in depth

I remember reading one time while I was in college that the Yamato took about 18 torpedo hits and about 19 bomb hits before it went down.

I think I have read atleast one of those buff but between father, brother and me we have just about every u-boat book there is lol. Actualy saw U-505 last summer, only u boat in northamerica, don't think I ever did ost up the pic's man amazing. And summer before that in calaforina saw the us WW2 sub and hornet, o and just to have fun a libirity ship there to.


Man its driving me nuts now I can't for the life of me remember the ships he was on that went down, else I would pull the info off that site for you. Going to have to ask Dad.
