I know Buff and Veg have this monitor and some of you might also have experienced this issue (if it is an issue at all) with your LCD monitors, and so I'm posting here.

I have the monitor maxed out at 1680x1050 and the picture is great. Good response time as well. However, I'm getting slight horizontal distortion around bordered images such as icons and pictures now and then. The distortion is very, very slight but on occasion it is noticeable.

The troubleshooting manual says that if you're seeing wavy lines, you should check the pins on your video cables to make sure they are not bent. I have not done so yet partly because it's a pain in the ass and partly because I don't think this is the real issue. Does this have to do with Horizontal focus? Maybe I need to increase or decrease the setting?

What do you guys think?

you will see distortion, especially if you aren't using a DVI connection. Also, if your windows resolution is not set to the monitor's native resolution, you'll see some distortion/artifacting due to bad scaling.

The best picture will be when you are using a DVI connection and Windows is configured to the monitor's native resolution.

If you must use a vga cable (because of the vid card), make sure Windows is set to the monitor's native resolution -- that will be the best you can do.

The installation directions said to hook BOTH VGA and DVI up, not just both. Should I disconnect the vga?

My windows settings, to the best of my knowledge, are set to the monitor's native resolution. I'm assuming by right clicking on the desktop and adjusting the settings of the display to do this correctly?

just run the dvi cable...thats all I am doing

yeah, there's no reason to connect the vga cable at all. If you have DVI, use it exclusively.

do not use both. no point in that. definitely use dvi...

DVI = digital , VGA analog ,, digital better get it.

Yah, I have only the DVI hooked up now and the picture is even better.
