Friday Night Gaming. You Vote, You Play.

As I’ve posted over the past few weeks, there has been little activity even on Friday nights. Part of the reason, I’m sure, is real life responsibilities. I myself have been trying to get online to fly Falcon with Panzer and Jedi for a week now only to be confounded by a major project for my Principal Leadership course. Still, I’m wondering if part of the issue isn’t lack of interest. As some you know, we used to be a very tight, regimented military simming group. But now we rarely get more than two or three people at any given time. It would seem that Friday nights are still our best evening for gaming, and while we can certainly meet on other nights of the week for different games, perhaps if we had a common game of interest scheduled for Friday nights, we might revitalize some of the old glory. In a ddition to revitalizing activity, I would like to see us revitalize our well disciplined style of simming as well.
Toward that end, I propose we establish some rules of engagement, some ground rules for gameplay such as comms discipline, chain of command, and other protocols that we used to use all the time. We can do it again. Arguably, the games that are being released these days don’t necessarily fit our style of gameplay, in fact many are little more than ports from consoles. Therefore, we should vote on some games, old and new, that would fit our style of gameplay, peak our interest, and get people to show up on Friday nights if only for a few hours. Please list the games you’re interested in here. I’ll take the list, set up a pole, and we’ll vote on which game we will play on Fridays for one month. Then we’ll revote for the next month to see if people want to move onto another game in the list. Whatever game we choose, we’ll set rules of engagement (ROE) and ground rules and observe them when we play. So if you find this idea appealing, then list your game choices here. I’ll set up a pole by next Wednesday or so.
