Age of Conan buddy invites

Post by Softball »

Ok folks, they have opened up the buddy invites for the Collectors Edition owners (me). I have (5) buddy invites for AoC, there is a $2.99 charge for the DL, but they give you 3 days more of free play. The DL is pretty big so I can understand why they are charging for it. You can read the info here:

LINK

If you are interested in one of my (5) buddy invites, please PM me with your info, Name and email address.

What's this about being required to have a cell phone with SMS (whatever that is) in order to verify your account?

I don't have a cell phone.

I agree with you Tach about the cellphone requirement. That is very strange and suspicious.

sounds liek for digital copy they send a code via sms messages. UM al I can say is "are they retarded". Hell sometimes sending SMS messages to cell networks in different countries don't work. Neadless to say that has to be the dumbest method of authentication I hav ever heard of. also note depending on your plan it can cost you to receave a message, 15 cents or so mind you but still.

That's odd, I installed AoC from the Digital Download and verified with my Boxed version CD key. I never had to give my cell phone number. Do they expect everyone that plays AoC to have a cell phone? That is one of the stupidest things I think I have ever heard of. Let's hope that is not the case.

Funcom CEO Sells Off Company Stock

http://www.brighthub.com/video-games/pc ... /5260.aspx

"The timing of this sale is what has fans of Funcom's games particularly concerned. The recent quarterly earnings report showed that Age of Conan had already lost nearly half of its customers. After the first two months, AoC was down from 800,000+ subscribers to approximately 415,000.

"The stock price of Funcom N.V has been in free fall lately. As of August 22, 2008 it closed at $13.60 per share. This is down from $55.50 in late May (just after the release of Age of Conan)."

Still, 400K+ subs isn't bad.

Interesting.

We'll have to wait and see what happens. The AoC developers are constantly (weekly or bi-weekly) updating and modifying the game to meet "players" suggestions and balance the game mechanics. I personally enjoy the game for what it is, and have not had a single thought of quitting the game. My only problem with AoC is not having enough time to play it.

It's all about the AoC community and what we as players put into the game. Our guild is holding weekly RP events with other guilds, which makes the game that much more entertaining. We are basically writing our own Age of Conan storyline and acting it out. How cool is that?

I honestly don't understand why people are quitting the game, I guess they are so used to the World of Warcraft mentality. The one thing I think that WoW has on AoC is the "almost" seemless world, where you can travel to one side of the world to the other without a loading screen (via a Griffon). Sure AoC has loading screens whenever you enter a dungeon or change a map location, but it's only about 20-30 seconds. As opposed to riding a Griffon for 3 or 4 minutes to traverse a map in WoW. I would say it balances itself out.

Too bad you guys never gave AoC a try. I offered you a guest pass but nobody showed any real interest. I have to say I'm a bit surprised. *shrug* To each his own I guess.

The only MMO I've ever played was WWII Online and that was only because it was a WWII military themed game. MMO's and Fantasy are just not my cup of tea.

WWII Online was released in 2001 and I was a subscriber for almost 3 years before I quit the game. The game now is called "Battleground Europe".

The gameplay was good. Fighting as infantry and in vehicles was a bit similar to how it is in Red Orchestra. I just got tired of it after 3 years because the theater of operation never changed and I just got burned out on it.

Oh, forgot to answer part of your question. Yes, WWII Online is played from the 1st person perspective exclusively. As far as military simulations go, it's pretty hardcore. You can often die from a single bullet shot, the tanks and AT guns have realistic damage models and physics and all of the small arms weapons have iron sights and realistic handling.
