My Review for new X-Files movie

Post by PanzerMeyer »

As some of you here may know, I consider myself to be a hardcore fan of the X-Files. It's one of my top three favorite shows of all time and I even spent the big bucks to get the new Ultimate edition dvd set of the entire series last Christmas. So this review of mine has turned out to be quite different from what I was expecting.

Watching this movie was quite a revelation to me and one that filled me with an unnerving combination of delight and disappointment. In my humble opinion, this movie was really made for the fans of the show and no one else. The central story of the movie could have easily been made as a 2 parter episode on tv. It just didn't have that epic and compelling story that would be worthy of a theatrical release. I was very pleased with the performances by Duchovny and Anderson as well as Billy Connolly and Callum Keith Renne. The acting was fine, the dialogue was good and the movie really did have a compelling dark mood to it. In the final analysis however, there really was nothing there that I felt would entice people to watch the movie who were not already fans of the show.

As it stands now, this should have been a direct to dvd release. However, it didn't have to be that way. I really think this movie could have attracted more people had it had a more sci-fi and epic scale to it involving government conspiracies, aliens, etc. I'm trying not to provide any bona fide spoilers here but the story in actuality had very little sci-fi in it and there was a supernatural element which only involved one character.

Final verdict,

If you are a fan of the show you should watch it and if you never cared for the show or if you only had a casual interest in it you shouldn't bother.

There was no X-File. That’s the main thing that comes to mind when I think about this one. . Mulder started spating out his usual babble at the beginning of the movie to Scully about myths and religious rituals acts or what not , then the end of the beginning was over. Time to move on to a detective CSI investigation led by the FBI.

Cheesy for an X-File.

I was really into the show too at one time and watched them all. Mulder and Scully made a good team back in the day. It’s Friday night and a new episode came on… I would whistle along with the intro too … I also made a really involving Web page about X-Files. Lot’s of stuff about Conspiracy , Aliens , Cover Up's and new Alien technology being used nowadays. If you get into reading some of this stuff on the net , you just have to wonder if some of it is true.

Take the Men In black for example. Or who was hiding Megatron ? I think there is some sort of conspiracy about the truth. It’s out there. . I know President Jimmy Carter vowed to show us the truth weather or not Aliens exist , but I think he was talked out of it in the long run. After he’s walking down the a dimly lit winding corridor through level 5 security and beyond , over at Area 51. After seeing the Alien Space Craft and the dead occupants. There was no need to share it with the world. He just wanted to find out for himself.
We're in the pipe , five by five.
