Stupid Question.

I want to upgrade to Windows XP Pro, but I'm a little concerned about compatibility with older games such as Falcon 4.0. I know most of you have upgraded and run falcon just fine, so I just wanted to know if I need to do anything special to get that game or some of out other staples up and running, i.e. patches, tweaks to the systems, etc.

Many thanks.

PS. My new computer is Indiana and should arrive tommorow with any luck. :D

Nothing special unless you have multiple game controllers. Then you might have to unplug the non-flight controller before you start Falcon.

If you are flying Jane's FA-18 you will have problems running that under XP. Check with Raptor as he is the latest to try it and has had issues.

JF18 and WinXP

I am running JF18 and WinXP with no problems. I do get some graphical glitches in 4xFSAA, but if I bump it down to 2xFSAA everything is fine.

I am running F4 and WinXP no problems anymore. I had a Net connection problem for a while after upgrading, it turned out to be a driver and DX 9 issue. With the latest drivers (43.45) I have no problems.

The only other issue I have had since running WinXP is the CDR-DVD drive that I have has some issues with Safe Disc 2 copy protection. Some games I have to run a NO CD patch, others I just have to keep trying to run the game and it will eventually work.

I run XP Pro with Falcon 4, JFA-18, Jane's F-15, Jane's USAF,...

all with no problems.

The only games I have never been able to run are:

DI Superhornet - but then i could not run it under 98 or ME either

and IGI 2 - go figure.
