Has anyone here ever had any problems with pc games that had either Starforce or SecureRom? I'm just curious to find out since I myself have never had any problems (so far).
What prompted this question is that quite a few people on SimHQ will not be buying Black Shark because it has Starforce.

The dvd version (which I recommend everyone get) will require a weekly disc check meaning that you'll need to put the disc in the drive at least once per week when you play the game. The digital download version I believe will have a limited number of installations but I dont know what that number is. I'll need to check out the DCS forums.

Seriously though, I was saying that I would check out the DCS forums which is the Eagle Dynamics forum, not SimHQ.
Thanks for the IL-2 missions by the way.

SecureRom is what EA is using they have gone to 5 installs and do now say they are working ona system where you can de regester a isntall so MAX 5 pcs at a time but a pc can be changed. Still need to authenticate with a server ok can live with that but if server dies you are screwed. Tho they have said recentaly that they would release a patch removing the need for a server. but in the end copies of games hitting before official release without SecureRom means there is no point at all of SecureRom

all the LOMAC versions used Starforce. Most games we use have either Starforce or SecureROM. That is not the entirety of the problem. The problem is the way the publisher specifically implements Starforce or SecureROM. They both have some problems with CDROM/DVDROM drives and interfere with some optical disc burning s/w as well.
