Looks awesome. Definitely taking a slightly different tact, emphasizing the initial relationship between spock and kirk, which was not amicable. It took a while for them to become friends.

Of course it wasn't amicable, Spock on one had was controlled and precise but Kirk was a Cavalier. Take this movie for what it is and not the heritage it comes from. For all intents and purposes the Star Trek Genre (yes you can say that), is dead officially.

I tend to agree. The original cast had a chemistry that I suspect cannot be replicated no matter who they put in the roles. I feel particularly sorry for the guys playing Spock and McCoy. They've got some mighty big shoes to fill.

Oh yeah - Kirk was a MAVERICK!

I got a lot of respect for Jean-Luc Picard. He was no Maverick but more like a distinguished gentleman who had a flavor for History. He reminded me of General Patton. One who speaks softly , but carries a big stick. Ah Hah!... No , Picard didn’t speak softly when he was addressing the crew . Or when Picard was thinking more about the safety of his ship and crew while trying to carry out the mission. When it came to the Borg , Picard was dead serious. He hated them almost as much as the Cardassian’s for what they’ve done.

I see... 4 Lights!

The Trek genre was already dead with "Enterprise" and "ST: Nemesis". This is an attempt by JJ Abrams to revive Trek and it seems like he may pull it off.

I think he was both Cavalier and a Maverick (both almost meaning the same but totally different). He was very wreckless in how he did things and he always bucked the system no matter what. But his loyalty was always to his crew and his ship first Star Fleet second, thats why he couldn't stay an Admiral for very long. He was an officer of the line and thats the only place he could think of to live and to ultimately die.

OK now that I've seen the trialer for real ummmmm lets see yeah Star Trek at the movie's has been reborn. No way in the world can they pull off a budget like that for a weekly tv show. I would have to say that Scott Bakula has one or two more acting gigs lined up if this goes well at the theatre.

Check out the very end of this "updated" trailer. It's well worth watching.
