for the new build......I really want Win7 but thats a ways down the road for now.

XP is a known animal, but limited to 2.5ish gigs of Ram

Vista is....well Vista warts and all

so opinions?

I thought XP Pro supported up to 4 GB of ram?

XP and Vista (32-bit) can utilize up to 4GB of Memory (Total).

XP or Vista, for simplicity's sake, I would go with XP. It is a viable OS and Vista still has some quirks with certain programs and games.

if 32 bit system XPpro, new egg stil has copies. If 64 bit then go Vista, the xp 64bit was not well supported at all. the vista one sopose to be good

What you do on the 32 bit it turn off the page file and such so the ram is more utilized and such.
