Weds. Night Storm

Post by Buffalo Six »

Well Weds. night we had a storm brew up.....suddenly, like in 20 mins just west of Wichita. This thing went from nothing on radar to a big assed smear of red and purple almost instantly. Purple indicates hail shafts. Lord did have hail. Starting about 8:30 PM the hail began, small pea size at 1st. 45 mins later....it was golf and ping pong ball size and at the end I was getting baseball size stuff. Sounded like someone out side hitting my house with a Bat.

Damage wise will prolly be a new roof (this one is only 3 years old from the last big storm) and new awnings, some new siding, window well covers, some window glass. I bagged 10 yard bags of leaves and debris yesterday (in 102 degree heat BTW) and thats just the front yard. The back yard is about 2 inches deep in leaves and crap from the maple trees.

Here are some pics..........

Just getting going..........

Some of the ones that bounced into my door as I was watching....Ironically, the local news guy was at that very moment saying that they were getting pea and marble size stuff at the station....like a 1/2 mile away from me.....grrrr

After 45 mins of Hail..... this is what it looked like

guess insurance is getting a call, dam. worst I have seen was in detroit, was bigger then marbles. No damage tho, was lucky as my car was brand new and has a aluninum hood, was expecting to be dinged up but it lives. any bigger and I am sure it would have been done for.

Veg...did you notice the big brown garage door in the photo? Where do you think my Xterra lives?

Yes, I'm waiting for the assessment team to get to me. Like I said, 2 stoplights south of me was baseball and softball sized stuff. I got a few of those but not like they did. So depending on what they say about the roof, this is going to cost me $1200 (which is my hail loss deductible) Sigh....

Ouchie.

Back in February we had an ice storm here, wound up costing me $800 to get my meter box replaced after the original got knocked sideways by a broken tree limb.

We should all move to San Diego. Great weather there, I hear. Earthquakes? Bah!

Ahh Hem! Harrumph…

As I was saying , 102 degrees in the heat back there with the humidity probably feels like 120* but worse.. Damn… I hope you had fun while it lasted. I would have gone outside with a hard helmet. We don’t get weather like that here in CA.

Although we did get a bitchen lightning-n-Thunder storm here about 3 weeks ago around 2am in the morning. It was the damndest,. Loudest,. thunder I’ve ever heard in my life time. It just sounded like it was about a few hundred feet up , and shook the house like no ones business. In the morning , I noticed that one of my windows was cracked. I’ve only thought T-Storms like that were high in the mountains or back in Ohio.

California is Beautiful actually. Just be sure to have your BH degree and speak 2 different languages before you come out here looking for work in So Cal. Oh yeah and they tax you more here too. San Diego is expensive to live there. But it’s nice. Maybe San Francisco would be better? I lived up in Redding for about a year and it’s damn nice country up there. They have rednecks up there , but their mellowed out a bit. I’m thinking about going back up there. They won’t tax you as much living up there in a different part of the state. I think that they have the state divided into sections , where they Tax some people more or less than others depending which part of the state you live in.

Too many damn hardcore rednecks in Tacoma. I’m honestly thinking about going back up north to Vancouver Washington this time. Maybe another year or sooner. I’d be right there next to the Columbia River and I’m going to get me a house boat one day, as seen in the movie Striking Distance ,or Murder By Numbers. That’ll be a few years from now , kicking it on my house boat sipping iced tea and watching the days go by. Oh yeah , I’ll have a fishing pool in the water too.. Of Course… As long as I don’t cast it out over my river boat , it’s alright.

Thanks for the Pics
