I noticed that just about every car passed was hitting the brakes. Perhaps that was some kind of police vehicle or maybe being escorted by police? Somehow the drivers ahead knew to hit the brakes.

Well the tyre squeeling is fake, as it sounds straight out of an American car chase movie scene. The actual driving is not, but it is not as fast as the sound woud have us believe! He crawled up behind some of those cars that are just doing there daily commute, He should have caught up and flew past those cars in a blink of an eye. Plus it is obviously from the late 60's early seventies. But yes does sound good and was worth the watch.

Yes i am also still alive!

Sigh....the tires on crappy everyday pavement is not fake. This is shot, I would guess late 60's, judging from the amount of Citroen 2Cv's, a few DS's and Peugeot 403 and 404's running around. All of those are mid 60's heyday cars.

So those are not "radial" tires, but bias-ply (some of yall are not old enough to remember the joy of those hard ass, crappy tires) and in a car that tends to be loose (a Euro would say oversteer...i.e. if you wreak...you dont see the crash as your ass hits 1st) you can almost feel when the back end breaks loose a little by watching the view and hearing the tires break.

So because it has to be shot late 60's or maybe early 70's, I'm going to fantasize a little and say its a '66 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 with a 60 degree Colombo V12, and blood red of course

.....sigh....

Someday.....

That reminds me...

Back in, oh, 2002 or so, I was coming back to Danville from the X-B's house down below Dunnville -

CLICKIE MAP

- at about 3 AM. I'd just passed through Liberty and was cruising along towards Hustonville at 70-75 mph in my Lincoln Towncar, pretty much had the road to myself, when a vehicle approached rapidly from behind and passed me - not like I was sitting still, but like I was going full speed in reverse - WHOOOM! It was a pickup truck of some sort pulling a livestock trailer. Whether there was any livestock in the trailer I couldn't tell.

As the tail lights shot away into the night, my first thought was, "This fool is gonna wreck that thing." So naturally I sped up and followed. The speedometer climbed to 80... 85... and that was as high as it went.

There are lots of straight stretches on that road, so for the most part I could see his tail lights up ahead. Every time I went around a turn or popped over a hill, I fully expected to see the truck and/or trailer upside down in the ditch, or wrapped around a tree, or piled high in the aftermath of a fiery crash (possible bar-b-cue, depending). But no, he just (say it with me) kept on truckin'.

We shot up and over the lo-o-o-ong grade just before Hustonville, at which point he slowed down and made the right turn into town, and I continued on toward Danville (at considerably reduced speed).

Wish I had that on film.
