Dam sale

So I have been looking at bikes for longer range touring, specifically the DL650 v-strom. Usually msrp is 9500$ so it would be second hand and plan was maybe next spring or over the winter when bike prices are low. But did a little searching of the few Suzuki dealers in my area and 3 had some sales, one envy rides 7400$ for a 09, dam that's parity good but none in stock. Suzuki of newmarket has a 08 never started for 7500$ again not bad but not as nice paint jobs as the 09. But then suzuki of brampton has the 09 done to 7000$ when I went in last night they have one left in stock with the below paint job

Looking at second hand prices a 07 with 20,000 km is going for 6500$ 500$ more I can get a new one DOH. Its there last one in stock, they sold second last the week before and uncrated this one for showroom, not even a a battery put in it. I was told reason is next week they place there order of 2010 bikes so 09 needs to go so some bikes got great discounts on them. This was the 3rd bike they sold that day, at end of season that's saying something. So as of last night applied for the loan through suzuki and put 500$ home. I should have the bike whiten the next few days. They would not drop price any lower as they know it will most likely sell whiten 1 week at the current price and I am betting they would be right but I did get one thing. I get all accessories I buy at dealer cost, so I was hopping for a free center stand but hey with dealer cost I will get a few more items and save a bit atleast. but now got my long range bike and my bike for screwing around those dam twisity roads nead me. well, used your price is your price. new do you not have taxes, etc. on top of it? so it is probably more than $500.

i would leave it the same color too. if you paint it, it is going to look like A$$. if you pay a shop to do it, it should cost you about $500 to $1000 for a good paint job.

my opinion on the bike - heavy. have you ridden one yet?

no, one of the stock paint sceams was with orange, I an't painting nothing. I love this paint job to but the orange is a little diffrent so hey liked that to. Ther eis no pianting neaded, and the 09 is compleatelay blacked out as shown. The 08 has more silver/crome and well don't look as nice as this

Now as for second ahnd, I still need to pay tax on it and such, but yes second hand would be a bit cheaperbut no warrenty's and lets face it its nice to have new. say even a 1000$ diffrence, to be hoenst thats not that much when you get a warrenty unless the second hand bike has loads of extras (none I saw did).

My bike is considered heavy compared to the sv650 as it has a steal frame. And sitting on this mondayI noticed about the same waight fealing as my current bike so not to concerned. It an't a sport bike more for tourning. Keeping the Gt650 for a more sports oriented bike. But for a long range run to rockies and to newfoundland (2 trips planed next year pecific and atlantic in one summer woo) this will be a sweet toy.

UPDATE dry weight of gt650 is 421lb, dry of the dl650 is about 427lb. now the dl650 has a bigger gas tank, 17L on GT to 22 on DL and assume ading some crash bars and hard casess. But stock she is close to my current bike so don't think weight will be to much a issue.

ok took the bike for 100 km ride thursday when I picked it up and all I can say is WOW impressive. Its got a little less power then the GT650 (knew that) but not a lot less Ie it still got loads of pick up and go. And what suprised me the msot was how easy it turns, I sware it just loves to turn, it was very enjoyable and easy to ride once I got over the wierd fealing somthign was wrong and ealizing o ya my gadges and lights don't turn with the handle bars lol
