what is the sales model? subscription? one time purchase? retail or download purchase and subscription?

Someone told me the other night when we were playing SC2 it's coming down on Mar 1st when the beta ends and will never go live, so I wouldn't bother. The sales model was to be micro transaction based, but it now sounds as if the new stuff will eventually just be rolled into a patch for COH or something...
