RoF vs A10c

Post by Hammer »

i ask the question because i have something to consider. time.

i know some people really like modern vs ww1, or even ww2. but the modern sim, if it really is a sim, takes time to learn. time is something i do not have a lot of. so i am thinking RoF may be a better fit than Black Shark/A10c. at least for me.

thoughts? not sure if anyone here has both. Jedi? Panzer?

I have both, but have had very little stick time with RoF (I've flown it twice).

With the time I have spent on A-10, it's definitely not a quick pickup sim; you will need to learn the basics. Hudson has been very helpful with his cheat sheet reference guides, and while in game. I did this with F4 back in the day, I learned on the fly with other members of WoF. I'd say with a little bit of patience and dedicated people, A-10 could pan out to be a very good sim for us to fly. The main issue is getting everyone on the same page and interested in flying it.

RoF is cheaper for sure, only paid $20 on Amazon. Similar to IL2, lots of A2A combat, but with WWI era limitations. I honestly can't give a solid opinion on RoF, not enough hours in the cockpit. I'm sure learning to fly RoF will be much easier, but I'm sure just as good as A-10.

It comes down to time, interest, MP features, and fun factor. We have a good base of people for A-10 and RoF (Hudson, Madrus, Gator? Jedi? Panzer? DA (Lol)? and myself). Add yourself to that list and we have 8 people, that's pretty good for a flight sim night. What pros and cons do you see with these sims?

Excellent question. What will take almost all of your time with Rise of Flight is simply learning the flight models from all the different planes. By far, this is the most accurate and realistic WWI sim I've ever played. Obviously everything else will take minimal time to learn since there is no radar, Shkval, TWS, air to air missiles, air to ground missles, etc. to worry about.

I think you would be up and flying in ROF faster compared to DCS A-10.
