World of Tanks?

Anyone here tried out, or currently play, World of Tanks?
I gotta be honest, Clan Wars brings back a lot of nostalgia for the old 'Mech Commander and 'MechWarrior leagues. Only thing they're missing is production factories. As it is, you can pretty much bring whatever you want into the fray.

If you're not in Clan Wars, or Company Battles, you're pretty much stuck in Random Mode, but even that's fun, consideirng you don't have to pay anything to play the game.

Seems a bit arcadish, no? It's free though, so can't complain there. Is there MP COOP vs AI or is PvP only? I'm assuming the latter.

It is a bit arcadish, it's very true. If you're a true history buff, the game will probably drive you nuts. What they did to the King Tiger, for instance, is a crime. Still, it's fun and as you say, free to play.

It's all PVP only, too, though you can run company battles of 10-14 people against 10-14 other people.

Does it use armor penetration values for the different tanks? i.e. can a machine gun take out a tank?

Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I injured myself, got occupied doing other things.

To answer your question, aye, it uses armor penetration values on the various guns. Every gun has it's own ballistics/shell pen/damage. If you're outclassed, you can load HE to do some piddling damage irregardless, and of course if you have a big enough gun, you can use HE to wreck things even though the AP value is quite low.

You do have to play smart, it isn't quite deathmatchy in it's simplicity.
