Progress on Sins. I am able to register and get into SoaSE: Rebellion, aftering find some other issues and cleaning up. Now I just need to be able to get a game to start. I made a complete mess trying to figure out what was wrong with the activations stuff, so I may just reinstall and see if that does it.

Am I missing something here....why not just stick with Windows 7 to play games? Or are you protesting MS in general? Seems like a lot of hassle to try and play the games you like to play, especially the DCS stuff. I know you said it was a science experiment, but damn, you should get a grant or something to cover expenses/time. Lol.
Nice to see what you can do with Fedora BTW. Interesting stuff.

Not protesting, but disinterested inrunning, using, or taking care of it. Besides I'm off the crack and now my OS is completely free
All were easy to set up so far once I got passed the initial issue except DOW2 Retribution which was only a mild pain, and SoaSE which has been an utter PITA. Now granted DCS does not run even a bit but it sure installed easy as pie.

i would love to be able to run linux for gaming, but i just do not see much progress.
windows is fine, but if they are really going to lock the OS then linux will definitly pick up. we might even start seeing some games that run natve in linux.
i do not think M$ is going to lock the OS to run just apps from their store. far too many 3rd party apps are developed for windows. if they could not be run by just installing them, then no one will develop apps for windows. this includes games, which is a primary reason for people to buy computers at home. no computer sales, no OS sales. same with business. without apps, people do not need computers.

I won't be ditching a Windows PC platform as long as pc games are still being made. If pc game development one day does stop completely then I'll get a console.

Absolutely agree with this.

Add Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion to the list of games working. Now I just need to buckle down and figure what the hell is wrong with DCS and I'll be in heaven
