MWO Style for RLGaminc / PHPBB

Post by Slayer »

So been tinker'n with modding the Starcraft style and transforming it into a style for MWO. Pretty much ready to wrap it up. Kinda hung up on which banner to use, so thought i'd share them with you guys and see what you thought. Here they are:

nice work Slayer!

can you do something that is a bit more across multiple games? maybe add in some good shots from DCS world, rise of flight, and SWOTR?

although i bet i can figure out how to get banners to rotate as well.

I actually have another style i'm working on for a general one. This one is specific to MWO players. I had an issue with a graphic for like the last two weeks that was driving me bonkers. Last night I finally had a break through. I'll try and finish work on the other style tonight. I'll also post a link to my dads site so if anyone wants to see the style "in-action" they can hit it. Once it's done i'll link the zip and if you want to roll them on they're all yours! :)

Here is the link if you want to take a look at the "whole" MWO Style. I'm hoping to get the RLG Style up tonight. It will be something similar to the MWO style with a change up in graphics. Maybe some color changes.

looks like you have to log in to see the style. maybe if you make it the default style it will show for visitors?

It is set as default. I snoop around and see if there's another setting for visitors. Feel free to make an account though. I'll probably tare it down after i'm done with these two styles.

Wow ... surfing for some images for the RLG banner ... DCS blows me away! I can't believe I have not stumbled on this yet!!! Love military sims, the more realistic the better. I loved Janes Long bow back in the day, I broke it out a while back but it's no where close to this beast. Not sure if I have the hardware to drive it but one of these days I may give it a shot! Any chance they have any Apache variants?

OMG the A10s! *sigh*

Here's the RLG banner I came up with. Lemme know if you'd like to change anything. I'll try and get the rest of the style put together over the weekend. Spent more time on this than I anticipated, but I think it turned out kinda cool. PDT_Armataz_01_12

you should join up with Panzer and Jedi and Hudson for DCS world. keep an eye on the game time forum, they post usually ahead of time.

there are threads about it in its section as well (like we have a Battletech/Mechwarrior section).

Copying here:
Slayer, if that's true grab DCS World and join us sometime. There are modules to fly additional aircraft but DCS World is free and comes with the Su-25T which is a very capable aircraft. Any maps I make (which is pretty much all we fly these days) include slots for it since we do like to fly it sometimes. It has a wide range of Laser, TV, and anti-radiation Guided Missles, along with plenty of bombs and rockets, and can carry a large compliment in one go, so it is always good fun to fly.

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/i ... ct&lang=en

Modules available:
A-10C
Ka-50
P-51D
Flaming Cliffs 3 (includes A-10A, Su-25, F-15C, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-27, Su-33 though they are modeled at lower fidelity than the others)
Combined Arms (allows for control of ground units save Infantry/MANPADS, ships, and multi-vehicle SAMS, and maybe some others)

The Su-25T is somewhere between the A-10C/Ka-50 and FC3 aircraft in terms of modeling. Engine/System startup and weapon deployment is easier, but it does use the advanced flight model.

But you can basically decide if you like it before buying anything.

To answer your question about the Apache, no AH-64's yet, though the Ka-50 is a fun ride, and it's even single seat. The next aircraft coming has only been admitted to as a U.S. Fast Mover. And I'm not sure if I'd rather see the newer Super Cobras, which seem near if not as capable as the Apache and a hell of a lot cheaper (the Apache does still have the better canon), or the Apache first. But I'm former USMC, so I'm biased. PDT_Armataz_01_22

The thing is, they try to model to very high levels of realism (FC3 is sort of an exception) and their choice of aircraft is heavily weighted by what information they can get on the avionics. This is why we probably won't get an AH-1Z (to my dismay), F-15E, F/A-18E, late block F-16, etc.

Slayer,
you might have to set it to override user selection as well.

That did the trick H'. You can hit it now and you should see MWO style without creating an account. I'll leave it up there until maybe Saturday afternoon or Sunday at which time i'll switch it to the RLG style i'm working on. I should have them both ready to roll by Sunday at which point i'll post you links to the .ZIP files to download and install ... if you want them. :)

Hudson,

So after getting all psyched about a kick ass sim ... I realized that A.) My HOTAS setup is mothballed "Somewhere" in this house and B.) It uses old school game port to so i'll need to pick up a USB game port adapter. Bottom line, it's gunna be a little before I start spinning up some turbines...
