Bring me some duct tape

I need some duct tape to wrap my head so it does not explode in anger. I thought my head was going to explode when I read this:

"But while members of the U.S. House were ranting on the House
floor about the need to keep telemarketers from interrupting
everyone's dinner, wounded U.S. troops recovering in hospitals
were being forced to pay for their dinners.

Congressman Bill Young (R-Florida) in a September 4th letter to
his House colleagues wrote, "Upon being discharged from the
hospital, our enlisted personnel and officers are served with a
bill to pay for their 'subsistence' while in the hospital. The
current daily rate for these charges is $8.10.

We learned about this from our visits with Staff Sargeant William
L. Murwin, who spent 26 days in the hospital recovering from
injuries incurred in Iraq. Sergeant Murwin is a reservist in the
Marine Corps who was injured when a 10-year-old Iraqi dropped a
grenade in the HUMVEE he was driving. As a result of the
explosion, Sergeant Murwin is a partial amputee, having lost a
large part of his foot.

Upon his discharge July 18th to return home to Nevada and his
job as a sheriff's deputy, Sergeant Murwin was handed a bill
from the hospital for $210.60 to pay for his food and subsistence.
Beverely [Congressman Young's wife] and I paid this bill for
Sergeant Murwin because we consider it an injustice to ask those
who have served us so courageously in Afghanistan and Iraq to
pay for their food while hospitalized because of their service.

To correct this injustice, Congressman Young introduced H.R. 2998
that would permanently stop charging troops injured in combat for
food while hospitalized."

Outrageous!

That is an OUTRAGE!! Whatever happened to Workmans Comp!? You know, injured while working? You would think that the bill for the food would have been included in the medical bill. Remind me not to eat when I goto the hospital for an extended stay, sheesh!

You know, instead of allowing f___ing illegal aliens to receive FREE medical care, FREE education, and to receive a Driver's License, and potentially commit election fraud, buy homes, and cars,....

And instead of spending billions of dollars on welfare benefits which are wasted on many lazy bums...

And instead of spending $400 billion dollars on free prescription drugs for Medicare recipients when there is no prescription drug crisis (drug companies already provide FREE drugs to anyone who cannot afford medications and it is estimated that up to 30% of current medicare recipients will lose their existing employer paid prescription drug benefit if this Medicare benefit becomes the law)...

Maybe we should provide a limousine to and from the hospital plus an immediate disability pension for any serviceman injured in the line of duty plus FREE college tuition at any state university for any family members (including the spouse who must now take up the slack) of those who have paid the ultimate price for our country.

Dammit, how is it possible to mistreat and disrespect our servicemen and women to this extent?

And while you are at it - include fire and police also.

Public service is selfless... The folks that can not understand are selfish, and most can not comprehend how one would give one's life in the line of duty - freely. It usually ends up that the folks you would die to protect and serve are the very same folks that will disrespect you and what you do... That is just the the way it is..and those if us that do serve know and understand this (if we have been around a while) and STILL do so freely. THAT is what it is to be an American...or any other protector/defender of rights and freedoms in the world. I am still prepared to give the utlimate sacrifice for my country and fellow citizens - it is part of who I became when I joined the service and will always be a part of me. I can not ever pretend to understand the oddities with which public servants are treated or subjected - it is just the way it is. Things do seem to be going back towards the 40's when such folks were highly repected and well taken care of in society, but I fear it is a fad as a PC thing to do...
