WOF USAF standard

O.K. folks...asking the blessings of WOF commanders. It seems a few are interested in flying this again...so we should set a standard so we can hook up online with no problems... Madrus, you seem to be the most active in USAF (maybe Grif and Viper as well...), can you help with suggestions?
Obviously USAF and 1.08 patch.
Admin 8.4?
That new graphics pack (I will dig up that info)
Now flight models... Some folks don't seem to like the flight models with admin 8.4? Is that correct? If so, which flight models should we use? Personally I think the stock ones suck, but that is just my opinion.
Suggestions?
How about a night to fly?
I will represent the 1st FW flying F-15C's, and since we have a lot of options we might get just about every wing involved...
Ummmmm?

It's been awhile for me, but isn't the 1.08 patch the F4 patch number?
I thought the USAF patch was something like 1.01 or 1.02, maybe I'm wrong.
I remember: Install USAF, update to 1.01(NOT 1.02), update to 8.4, plus the graphics pack and that was it.
I will reinstall USAF tonight and check on this configuration.
concur

I agree with Viper. That sounds like the best setup to me.

Well as far as units go I think all of our ACC units aircraft are represented in the game?
F-15C/1st FW, F-16/301st, A-10/23rd-49th, F-15E/4th
For that matter the same folks can fly the same planes in both Falcon and USAF...
Has anyone created an F-18 and/or F-14 for USAF? The the Navy wings could be involved as well, if they wish. That might definitely be one option for swapping out a plane or two (the F-5 and F-105).
I can give up one of my Falcon nights, or can fly USAF on Thu or Fri. Maybe an option would be to fly USAF on Monday and Falcon on Tuesday? It seems to be mostly the same people involved anyway... Thoughts?

The stock install of USAF is 1.01. I think the feeling by many (not necessarily by me though) felt that 1.02 messed up some flight characteristics, so I left mine at the stock install of USAF (1.01).
Then I applied the admin 8.4.
FM's have been free up till now. I feel that the stock ones are the most realistic in terms of roll and turn performance, so those are the ones i fly with. Different FM's do not seem to hinder the MP, so we have left them up to the individual.
I do not know anything about a graphics pack. I think the stock game is fine.
I am open to Mon-thurs nights.
I do not see the need for Navy planes in USAF. No carrier ops. We could fly the F4, since that was designed as a Navy plane originally, but I would prefer to fly the F/A-18 out of Jane's F/A-18 or Falcon 4 anyway.

Viper,
Have you installed these skins yet? They look great in the photos, but how do they look in game and do they work for sure with 8.4 installed? I hate to mess up my install and have to reinstall again.
Thanks for any info.

the admin is not changed in EP 3....it's simply a graphics pack
it changes some skins, sounds and 3d models for some weapons
eye candy only
read all about it here:

I will see if I can hook up with you and fly some USAF tonight. I spent last night DLing TSH High Res for Janes F18, now I just have to figure out how to make it work.
I have not installed the USAF EP3 yet, I will do so tonight as well.

Well let me know exactly what needs to be installed and I'm sure I can find everything in the download section then work from. If I can't find all that is required where can I go.

I know it's not as realistic as Falcon 4 or JF18, but man it's such a great sim all the same. Great graphics, re-playability, and fantastic for multiplay action. I love that game.
yes! Exactly

The low learning curve makes this game great for multi-play; no one is daunted by the radar systems etc, and you can stil get into some very realistic furballs!
Had a great time

Nice pics Viper.
I had a great time last night flying USAF with ya Viper. I still don't know what the deal is, but even after a reinstall of USAF and the install of the EP3 files, I still get the spanish words on the loading screens. As long is still works, I am good to go. I can deal with spanish loading screens.
Hopefully I will have time tonight to get some flying in.
See ya.

Install USAF (No patches)
Admin 8.4
the EP3 graphics add on (Optional)
Sorry I couldn't make it tonight Viper, my softball game ran a little late and then I HAD to watch New England MA play Harlem NY in the Little League World Series (Recorded on TIVO). What a beautiful ending to the game, bottom of the 6th, tied 2 to 2 , and New England hits a walk off 3 run home run. I literally jumped out of my chair like I was watching the pros. The pitcher for the New England team had Harlem on their heels. I say let the pros strike, and put Little League Baseball on TV. Much more excitement, and anything can happen, ask New England MA.
Anyway, I will definately catch everyone tomorrow night for our meeting.
BTW, Viper told me last night that LOMAC has been pushed back to Spring 2003.

  My lady is from Perth, Western Australia. Took me a week to keep from saying "HUH" everytime she said something to me. Now, she has picked up the TeXas "drawl" mixed with the Aussie accent and catches all kinds of hell when she returns home each year. Hehehe. Is definately a funny mixed accent.

When I went to install Admin 8.4, it said something about
patching to 1.02F; I didn't do that... did I stuff it up?
Also: any particular way to install the EP3 Graphics
Admin 8.4 install

Just ignore that it says 1.02, I saw that too. Just as long as it installs with no patches installed, you should be fine.
As far as the EP3 goes, DL the ZIP file, unzip it to a Temporary folder, after you unzip, it automatically makes the USAF folders for you. Then all you do is CUT and PASTE the folder(s) into your root USAF folder, overwriting the files when it asks. This will overwrite default USAF files, but those are the ones that EP3 replaces that make it look better (Improved graphics). If something get hosed after the install, you will have to reinstall USAF. No biggie though, takes only about 10 min. to reinstall.
Good luck and enjoy.

BUMP... don't know what I am doing wrong here, but this stick is useless in this sim. Sluggish response... I have set the "deadband" slider back and fourth, tried the stickworks utility, installed the Thrustmapper software, and just very frustrating. I got the sim all patched up, including the EP3 looks great. But unless I can figure what the deal is with my stick, gonna just shelve it again. Really wanted to learn this one too.
