I thought it might be good to put this up in the storyline forum. I may, with Hammer's permission, add some details or build off it as we go along. I think this thread can be used to keep the broad scope of the campaign in perspective. Hammer's synopsis has some real potential! I've already got a few ideas and plan on adding some details here later.

Scenario:
(Courtesy Hammer, with some additional input from me based on some current events)

For many decades now, China has been in turmoil. Violent political upheavals have destabilised this country; millions are dying from disease, malnutrition, and the terrible living conditions. The newly elected leader of China, Mao Tu Hana, sees the only way to bring his country out of it's crisis, is to initiate war with the West. He feels that the condition of his people is partly due to 'Westernisation' He was old enough to take note of what happened when Russia was Westernised-the once mighty nation plummeted into debt, with hundreds of obsolete tanks, aircraft, and the hundreds of nuclear submarines rotting around the Kola Peninsula.

Believing that he has no chance of taking on the combined powers of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, he rallies other countries in the east. North Vietnam and Norht Korea willingly join his army, backed up by South Vietnam and South Korea, who have secretly been brewing a hatred of all that the West stands for. They have agreed to use nuclear weapons when able and "forced to" against their enemies.

Terrorist organisations such as Al-Quaeda also rally to his cause. For them, it is a chance to hit back at the capitalists who are polluting the world with their prescence.

Israel has been attacked from all borders simultaneously and from within by infiltrators, and is reeling on its heels to fight back. Saudi Arabia has professed its discord for the "Coalition of the Willing" has adopted full support of Isreal, including forces and monetary needs. Saudi Arabia is threatening to breadk all ties with the Unites States and Great Britian, and Australia if NATO and its key players do not stand down in Isreal.

CIA SOG with the assistance of SAS has infiltrated to Iran when there was confirmation that Iran is developing and selling nuclear weapons to any country willing to take arms against the west. They are bolstering their own nuclear stockpile as well....including ICBMs.

In one lightning strike, the Combined Indo-China Union (CICU) sweep south and west, penetrating as far as northen Austrailia and Afghanistan before anyone had a chance to react. NATO passed a resolution, stating that troops would be whole-heartedly commited to halting this threat. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to strike, terrorists detonate bombs in many major cities, including New York, Paris, Berlin, London, Madrid, and Washington DC. Fearing for his safety, the President is evacuated to a bunker in Nevada. All leaders of the free world are making plans to regroup with the President.

I have a mission in OFP that we can use as a response move/defensive tactic from possible CIA reports that the CICU has nuclear weapons stock piled and they are getting ready to move them into strike position. Massive Dragon and Walking wounded were designed that the town of Chapoi on the Island of Malden is attacked by U.S. forces to get into position to strike a nearby WMD storage facility that will be emptied in a matter of days. The U.S. seeing no alternative in order to balance the tied of the early victories of the CICU is to move whatever troops they have available(which does not include air or tank support) in the area onto Malden and then move on CHAPOI to take the WMD storage facility next to the ocean on the other side of a large hill.

Grif, you have full permission to edit it. It was only really a framework anyway! All I can say is:

Quote:
Israel has been attacked from all borders simultaneously and from within by infiltrators, and is reeling on its heels to fight back. Saudi Arabia has professed its discord for the "Coalition of the Willing" has adopted full support of Isreal, including forces and monetary needs. Saudi Arabia is threatening to breadk all ties with the Unites States and Great Britian, and Australia if NATO and its key players do not stand down in Isreal.

Check your spelling of 'break' and 'Israel'

I did not write that, I believe Raptor did. I merely cut and pasted it here. As for my spelling, I typically don't mispell words. I'm an English teacher.

Does anyone like or dislike my idea for a responsive strike against a WMD holding area on a remote island.

I can rebuild the mission within a day or two or are we not using OFP for this campaign.

personally, I'm fine with that idea. Assuming, of course, the mission has a contingency plan for them just blowing the WMD factory up in our faces, but other than that, it's all good.

Nothing for nothing Kodiak, but I'm not a bad speller. I'm usually just too busy to edit my posts. I tend to take greater care when it comes to more formal write-ups, such as the CIA report I just posted. Would'nt be too realistic to have copy edit mistakes in a formal report to POTUS.

the WMD idea sounds good, I think it could be performed in either RvS or OFP, depending on what people prefer.

Well I think Hammer and I have set the stage, and I think people will find that it's large enough to do just about anything. There are at least three theatres of operation, and perhaps upwards to six regions. Now people need to make missions for games. Hope that we can truly kick this off soon.

Grifter they really can't afford to blow up the WMD storage/holding area. Remember they are taking an infinite risk challenging the western world in a situation like this. Without the initial stockpile of WMD's to prove there point(atleast until they can get some cheap high grade nuke's) then the war is half over. I'm sure the CICU knows that a drawn out fist fight with the west will drain there very limited resources, but with the Nuke's in play and a first strike capability after there initial bliztkreg then the west would have no choice but to cave in, so destroying these nuke's that are stored there would atleast buy NATO some time to come up with a counterstrike plan, besides China knows this is a win all loose all situation.

Katana,

Yep, you've got me there. I've never been good with contractions because they are not allowed in formal writing, which is mostly what I do. So, I tend to do that a lot. heheh.

As for Kodiak, I have no idea what you just said but I'm sure it was poking fun at me.

DA,

Can't really say that they would or would not. Your logic is erroneous. They don't need to save one stock pile if, according to the CIA report, they have other factories and smaller nukes already in play, which they do. Furthermore, if I was the Chinese, I wouldn't hesitate to blow up it rather than let it fall in the hands of the enemy so long as it wasn't in my home country. I'm not even sure that's off limits. But, WTF do I care if I turn Pakistan or India into a sheet of glass? In fact, I'll be able to cut my losses and extract the survivors to fight in another region. Furthermore, the Axis does not have first strike capability no more than we do. We are perfectly capable of launching nukes now, if they throw conventional nukes at us, I'm sure we would simply enact MAD. Unconventional nukes may also result in MAD. They may very well if I were POTUS. But, oh well, it's just my two cents. Frankly, I think you're probably right that the mission is worth the risk. If planned and carried out quickly, it should be possible. However, I personally would not discount some maniac in the factory decided it is a glorious thing to kill himself and load of enemy forces as well. Shrug.
