I'm looking for a program that can edit mpeg and avi's. I was thinking of making a video/promo of our squadron that we could put up on the site to attract new recruits. We could record some mission and splice it with the intros to game and real life footage that we find on the web to make a kickass promo.
Grifter.

But the problem remains. If anyone knows of a video editor for dummies program that I could pick up somewhere, let me know. I used to do audio production, so I'm familiar with editing, but I'm kind of out of the loop.

How about Ulead Video Studio? We purchased an ATI AIW 8500 card at work and it comes with Ulead Video Studio 5 (or 6?). I have used UVS5 before and it can pretty much do anything you want as far as video editing. There is a catch with some versions of UVS, it is sometimes hardware dependant. Meaning that it is written for a specific piece of hardware, like my USB Instant DVD box.
I also have Adobe Premier 5.1 (2 years old) and it is an excellent video editing program, but it takes some bookwork to learn how to use it. It works with just about any video capture device.
As far as a freeware/shareware video editing program, I am not too sure what is out there. I can look around though.

Adobe premier sounds like the ticket. I've got some freeware/shareware programs but they don't seem real user friendly.
