O.K., who has tried the demo and what do you think about it? Does anyone know when the cd's will ship?

I have gone through the rifle quals and the obstacle course and weapons familiarization trainin. I really like it so far.
From what I hear: Currently, you must play on "army" servers as there is no way to "host" a match in-game. There should be a patch released later this week to allow non-army servers. This is key, i think.
It's a hog. It wants to run on a beast of a PC. I am running it fine.
It feels like what I would envision to be "Infiltration 3.0" ... Iron sights, "realistic" reloading. grenades are great. recoil, breathing, supported mode (ie, MG on a bi-pod). It seems to have all the realism elements.
No idea when the CD will ship. It's worth the download I would say.

What is "infantry training?"
I am on the MOUT mission. haven't tried MOUT yet. I want to make sure I have all my keys mapped correctly so I don't embarass myself too badly in public.

Gator,
You know those flyboys - you could be gunning a tank and they would call it infantry training!
I have it DL'ed, but I am wondering if the cd version is going to be "more". I have not had time to install it yet - worked in the yard all weekend.
Infiltration does have iron sights, breathing, reload, etc. but they kinda overdid object collision I think - sometimes you get "stuck" on a wall... It is very good for a game that runs on such an old engine. I think their next version after 2.87 will also be on the new unreal engine.

I have been playing it for 3 days on a private server (arstechnica's) and it is an excellent game.

So, PV, Is there any way we could create a private WOF server? It would be way more fun to play this against people we all know instead of the random people we have to play against on the public servers.

This is directly from the AA web site:
SITREP (7.9.02)
We've been working feverishly since 4 July, adding sixty more servers (now totaling 110 coast-to-coast), completing the tools to provide for community servers, and putting the final touches on more tours of duty, maps, and training missions! What does the immediate future hold? Let's cut to the chase:
- Community Servers: By next Monday, we will release tools to stand-up official community servers. We're grateful to those of you answered the community's demand for more servers. But one of the side effects was that some users who completed missions on these servers found that they were not 'credited' on our Authentication system. This new community game server kit will provide the means by which registered users can stand up their own credited game servers, which will register your completed missions on our Authentication system.
- Sniper School: You asked for it, you got it! On 25 July, we will release the first (of what will be many) updates: U.S. Army Sniper School. This single player update includes two training missions, where you can qualify on both the M24 and M82A1 Barrett sniper rifles. Successful completion of these training missions will enable your character to select these sniper rifles on HomeLAN (and registered public) servers! But be warned - only those who earned an Expert qualification in Basic Training will qualify for Sniper School training!
- Wanna be an Airborne Ranger? On 22 August, we'll release our next batch of updates: Airborne School and Ranger School! Airborne school includes two single player maps: the 250-foot tower and your first C-130 jump! Once you put your knees in the breeze, its time to test your mettle in Ranger School: two multiplayer maps consisting of MILES team missions at mountain phase and swamp phase.
That's not all. We're also working on an in-game browser, linux server port, and host of other features. Yes, we've been busy the past week! More servers, providing for the addition of community servers, more missions, and more Army training! But that's just the tip of the iceberg, troops! Stay tuned for more! [Bacchus]

I think I'm having the same problem as Dave, can't register to make it past the M16.
Either that, or I haven't figured out how to properly fold the sheets on my bunk, and because of that, I'm being held back a few weeks.
Riding the short bus...

Register first, when you first open the game... You might want to do like I did (in case we EVER play other squads) and add a .WOF to your callsign. So mine is Steel.WOF.
What are the exact error messages you are encountering?

I'm just not getting a confirmation email allowing me to use the screen name of my choice. Maybe because I'm using hotmail?

I played for about an hour tonight with PV and Bad Karma on a Private Server(VERSION 1.0 only) hosted by Bad Karma (13th MEU). We had a great time, even though there were only 3 of us. This is DEFINATELY one of the games we should use as Neutral Ground for 13TH MEU vs. 352nd Ghosts. Or even just for fun. The sounds and weapon effects are right on!
I have to ask how BK setup the server, but once the server is setup, you run the game, hit the tilde(~) key, and type: open ###.###.###.### , where ### = IP number. I'm not sure about this, but I don't think the maps will rotate automatically. The person running the server has to switch the maps. All I can say is that it was a fun fun experience finally getting to play a MP game without having to finish Training. We should definately give AA a try, it's well worth it IMO.
Hmmmmm?

I will have to check Infiltration out. I have a copy of UT somewhere, I just have to dig it up.
