Coyotes are actually pretty incredible animals. They are one of the few species that has been able to maitain or increase population despite man's environmental destruction. If you look at them individually, in a healthy state, they are also quite striking dogs... They are also pretty intelligent. Too bad many folks see them as pests and vermin - the coyotes were there long before any people (with their wussie little pets they use as an excuse to exterminate the coyotes - oh yes, and we KNOW they just decimate sheep populations...).

Too bad you hit one - for both you and the coyote. Coulda been a much worse situation, and apparently this one got singled oput by natural selection - could not have been too awful smart standing on/running across a runway with a plane coming at him... Maybe there were leftovers from something else that got hit on the runway...
