DUDE!!!

Looks good, but I do have a couple of questions...

Can anything be done about the annoying yellow flash that occurs when the page initially loads before the Eridani logos overlay the background yellow?

The text on the recruiting page might need a different color - it is kinda difficult to read at the beginning. Maybe consider a different backdrop as well? The nebula is kinda difficult to recognize...

That is all that was glaring at me... I really like to logo on the home page...

Are we going to have a news section, or would we like an announcements section in the forum?

Any kind of music to go with the site? We could do some rousing scores, or some very low key cavalry trumpet calls - one for each page with a little blurb or button that explains what that particular call is...

AWESOME job Lancer...you ready for an account to upload it?

Looks great man...just one thing in the roster...for regimental commanders is cool that you say Officer commanding but for the lance comanders CO instead of OC looks less confusing...at first i thoght it was a typo until i cheked that you were referint to all as officer comanding...not a big deal just something i think might be good.

Thanks guys for your comments

I went for the keep it simple approach because of the different browsers and the like. The buttons are the only real Flash I used and some don't have Flash on their browsers  Same for music, which format? Who have which players? And ppl get bored waiting for music to download.

The yellow flash was in replacement of something of the Flash variety. It should be very quick. Just used it to grab attention.

I'll probably change the recruiting poster every now and then. It is the horse head nebula.

I did not want to replicate anything on the Forum. So I thought news and members lists was best dealt with there.

OC is normally used to differentiate subordinate commanders from the main CO

Thanks again guys for your comments.

I don't know where the OC for subordinate commanders comes from, but in the Army we used CO for every commanding officer (Corps all the way down to Company). My opinion is CO...or we could use Lance Commander and Regimental Commander, etc.

We can have a link for announcements and news that just points to the correct forum...or there are seperate news management systems that we can use to present such things...

Typos and mispells are easily fixed, I imagine I will go through eveything and fix all that (there are a lot in the history if it was pulled from the old site - did not read it on the new site yet) once the site is on the server. Remember Lancer said it was not done yet...

I would like to hear some music, can it not be downloaded in parallel with the other objects? I know someone that knows how to do this...

Now that we have this site, we should have a steering committee to make all the decisions on the suggestions and changes... Maybe 5 ppl??? Thoughts?

Again Lancer, great job. Thx.

Mmm there is music on the sites home page! Has been since the early hours (GMT) of Saturday morning It is the 'Gary Owen'. It is only a small midi file so not too much of a drag down loading. It continues to play as long as you have that page open. Slam made the decision that music was to be on that page only and I whole heartedly agree.

For the Battle Honours page I need to know the major victories of the ELH. How many times we won the SL and the like. Can ppl e-mail me with the info? My addy is in the members list. Thanks guys

Rules? What rules? Only rule I ever knew about in ELH was obey the league rules and no cheating.
There are some SOPs like TOE (Trial Of Entrance) etc... but havent used them in a while.

Code of the Light Horse.

Loyalty to Self and Service

All members, no matter their capacity, are to maintain the high standards of loyalty to themselves and to the duties that they perform. This involves, but is not limited to; personal behavior while presenting oneself as a Light Horseman, performing any function relating to a public capacity whilst a Light Horseman, and presenting a strong showing of support for fellow personnel especially in public areas.

Loyalty to Unit

It is of vital importance to maintain the highest standards when interacting and acting along with members of the unit. Members of the same Regiment are expected to support each other as well as being loyal to the Eridani Light Horse. If one individual is incapable of trusting another to perform their duties then a weakness is created within the Regiment and therefore within the Light Horse itself.

Personal and Unit Honor

Above all else, honor is respect for rank, privilege, talent and ability. Members are expected to maintain the highest standards or honor and integrity in all actions and conversation. This honor and respect is also to be given to one’s enemy no matter their level of skill or apparent lack of integrity. An enemy may one day come to your aid or become your ally.

Discipline

Discipline, in addition to loyalty, integrity, honor and respect is the foundation upon which any military force is structured. As opposed to the codes of conduct, discipline implies control over one’s action in nay situation and adherence to the codes of conduct. Those that do not follow the codes are subject to disciplinary action. Disciplinary actions include but are not limited to the following; Reprimand, Demotion and Discharge.

Command Protocol

Direct orders within the Eridani Light Horse organization will not be with the expectation of immediate or robotic action. An order is a request to perform an action that, as an individual, you should already know is required to be performed for the betterment and survival of self, Regiment and Unit. Leadership is by example; compliance with orders is out of respect for the capabilities of those in command. If an order is refused but a satisfactory result is achieved then no retributive action is required. Every member of this organization is an individual who is expected to perform for the honor and survival of this organization. However, a Light Horseman is expected to respect and abide by the procedures of the unit including following the chain of command.

Interaction with Peers

Simply put, whenever a member of the Light Horse is conversing or interacting with anyone within or outside of this organization they must be respected and treated as equal. If the other proves themselves to be beneath your station do not resort to petty threats and insults. Treat opponents on the battlefield and off with respect even though they may not deserve it. It is the duty of every Light Horseman to show that they are above reproach and maintain the highest standards of honor, integrity and loyalty.
