Ok....with said...we redirect to W!O and NBT4. Seeing NBT4 is on a break for 2 weeks..we redirect to W!O. I need all to read the rules and get familar with the goings on there. Yes Lancer I think a weekend meeting is a good Idea. maybe just not to talk about serious stuff but to kick around a bit.

Do we return to our ancestral homeland (Kali) or mIRC? This will be the stumbling block.

Swirling sucking sound?
Yup, that's them!

I not so much concerned with where we meet as finding some time to fire up the old PC. Let me know, I might even be convinced to install mIRC.

Well since we are opening up this can of worms I guess I need to throw my 2 cents in also.
I do not like Kali, I find the interface to be slow and very cumbersome. When I try to resize a window or the whole GUI screen it damn near hangs my system. I find the text in the chat very hard to read, I hate the fact that it replaces my text with those annoying smileys and symbols. Kali is a system resoruce hog. I find IRC much better in terms of the interface, text, and the ability to hold multiple converstations on multiple channels. Makes it nice to be able to talk to the other team in IRC when a battle is going on (other team being our employer or whatever). I like the fact that IRC is secure. I have total control over the channel. I can ban people by IP. The text is EASY to read. Did i mention the ease of the text for the reader? I paid my 20 bucks to Kali in '96, and until a month or so ago have not been back there since '98 or so. There is a reason for that. There are several D/L able interfaces for the IRC system if the GUI that is stock IRC is not to your liking.

Ok I guess it's my turn to through my 2 cents into this
I started on kali back in 95 & until what ,2 months ago I never (new of) or used mirc before." I guess it is what each person likes" me I don't care what channel we use BUT I do care that we don't meet regularly. I'm starten to miss the days when we use to have hour long debates on which team was better(ELH-GDL)or just shooten the bull. I also learned alot from friends on line about puters & how they work & how to fix them after i screwed mine up  Lets just start meeting more I try to be online as much as possible sundays with Lancer & the 151 are a hoot :duel for me & durning the week evenings with the 21st&71st are a blast so I hope we can resolve this meeting thingy & get as many ELH pilots on at the same time to practice, kick each other around, shoot the bull& most off just to see friends haven fun  :salut: :gulp: :axe :boss :drink_bud :play :pcorn

Isn't all this arguing moot.
I know where to find my friends, and my wings know where to find me, and if somebody would draw me a map, I'd know where to find me.
I was under the impression ELH was an mIRC team.
I recall that THE DECISION was made a few months ago.
Right before GDL gave up on Kali and even Stinker left for a friendlier clime. If it were put up to a vote I would have to abstain, cuz I only post on the forums from the office, so use what THE TEAM uses for pity's sake.
Besides Big Ben uses mIRC, and if that ain't a ringing endorsement...
It's OK if you got P.O'd Buff, that's what I'm here for.
Worst case scenario: Old ELH meets on Kali while simultaneously New ELH meets on mIRC, and some poor conciencious soul wears himself out cutiin and pastin from one to the other.

Hmmm...that would prolly be Slam or me!
BB gave a pretty good endorsement there...but let's see if we can get him to add a new server and channel in mIRC!!! muahahahaha!!!!
Really, since I got kali working it does not matter to me. I do think IRC is more prevalent, but not sure about that either. kali used to have some advantages when it would launch games, etc. but I don't think it does that for newer games any more...and none of the leagues use it like that (maybe slmw?)(compare to the Zone)(BTW - I HATE the zone and refuse to play on it!).
I guess the question is can we get everyone on kali without any hard feelings?
Or can we get everyone on IRC without any hard feelings?

For what it's worth...
I'm with Crickett, I do miss having a forum where most folks dropped in every day or so and sometimes we stayed on for hours. I also find that I keep my maps & other MW-related software updated as there's usually someone there passing on any news or directions how to get something to work. Plus, the spontaneous matches were great, esp. the CTFs with PAIN. I downloaded the mIRC way back when the decision was made to use it, but I also thought there was gonna be some ELH-specific guidance on how to set it up. Glas was generous enough to post some info, but I never was able to get connect with our channel. I heard about a week ago that there is some guidance on the NBTIV site but haven't had a chance to try that. I liked Kali because it was so easy to set up and use but I will be glad to use mIRC if it means we can all get together as friends & team mates again. I just haven't been able to get it to go and honestly don't have a lot of time to figure it out. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the impression that many other folks are on to mIRC yet.

Like everyhing else, mIRC and Kali both have their advantages an disadvantages. And to echo what Crick and Firemane said, lets just start meeting agan, regardless of where that is.
mIRC, once you get it going, is actually incredibly simple to use. All you have to do FM is click on 'add' when you first fire up the client. A small box appears with fields to be completed. You only have to complete the top 2 fields labelled 'Description' and 'IRC Server' and in both fields you put in 'irc.kaneda.net' without the ''. Click 'add' on this box and it takes you back to the original box with 'irc.kaneda.net' showing in the drop down list of servers. Simply click 'connect to IRC Server' upon which it will go crazy for a few secs then it will bring up another small grey box. In the top box, type '#ELH' again without the '', then click 'Join' (join wnt highlight til you have typed #ELH anyway). This will then take you straight in to the ELH mIRC room.
Any probs give me a shout on icq or something and we can go on to RW and i'll talk you through it, but the path ive done above should get you there.

I was a bit reluctent to have a meeting untill you all showed intrest. Well you are showing intrest..and yes I do miss them also..but I have to balance..the fact that peoples personal time is finite...with that said...I think I want to have a get togather..( lets not call a meeting it sounds to inpersonal) on sunday..we can discuss a whole bunch of stuff but I will not make it a bitch session..we will discuss things like contracts in leagues..factions we sould support and other stuff. I think I want to guide ELH more like its BT name sake..where the Eridani Light Horse stands for rightness, honnor and protecting those who can not protect them selfs.. ." libreta um opresso" liberate the oppressed. let me know your thoughts..mIRC will be the venue. RW will be open also..I cut my teeth on Kali..but I also have grown to like mIRC.. BH break out the ale...Lance tell your lads not to bring that gawd awful coolent wine your boys have come up with..I will talk to you all tomorrow..Lance I should be on around 3 central..to shoot the sh** with you..but keep mind all I am playing Doctor dad...Lil Slam has the chicken pocks and Mrs Slamhammer has some type of grunge..so I will be in and out over the next 2-5 days..
thank you all..." Light Horse to the Front"

Actualy I have been in mircfor YEARS. I think I started in 96/97 ish area. And well been with it ever since. Hell I rember version 3 of mirc. I was on mirc doinf all that mp3 downloading back then when there was no kazaa or napster, you had to hunt. Dam I miss those days o well  . It is easy once the address are set up. I have little experence with kali so no comments. I bought a licence for it a while back installled it and i neve rlooked at it since.
Now the 21st strike regerment when it was HS was also based on mirc, so you well find people in 21st to generaly be use to mirc. Also not mirc has many scripts avable and its own scripting setup so u can write some neet little things for those advanced. I use to do it but dam if i rember how. Trust me i had more then the fish slap then. But I well say MIRC there can be more done with it then I beleave can be done with kali because of is design setup.

Okay confusion reigns now :-? :-? :-?
Was that directed at me Ob? My only post in here was to explain, as Firemane had mentioned i had done in a previous post (and so i thought i would do so again cos i thought the situation merited it) the plain English route to accessing the ELH channel in IRC. I cant remember ever mentioning any particular problem i have with it, not at least since i actually learned how to use it myself.
Maybe i picked your post up wrong and you were referring someone else to your 'long and tedious' post about accesing mIRC, tho to be honest my instructions were
MUCH better
