It saddens me to announce that Deputy David Powell, Lakewood station, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept was killed in the line of duty at approximately 1100 hrs on 11/30/2002. The suspect was found dead in a house apparently of a gunshot wound. It is unknown at this time whether Dep Powell shot him or the coward killed himself.

Please say a prayer for Deputy Powell's family as he leaves behind a wife, 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

Rest in Peace Deputy Powell End of Watch 11/30/2002

If he was a friend of yours I offer my sympathies. Just do not ask me for a hug. I do not hug. I have always tried to avoid attachment. Something I learned from being a military child. But I am being sincere for some reason, Oh hell what is happening to me.

as regular ppl sometimes its hard to remember the risks those police and others take to protect us from others. Thanks to you and Reaper it helps remind us that you are real ppl as well. i know this sounds weird but sometimes a uniform sets you apart from the crowd. with this relization i am deeply sorry for you on the force in LA and for LA istelf losing someone deticated enough to give up their life for their protection. Give the family of David Powell our sympathies and our sorrow. His Family has our prayers. may we honor him and his family in our memories as we have others who spent their lives protecting us.
