Ben, in response to the weapons, in BT the Long Tom and Arrow IV rounds were designated as an artillery (sp) weapon. I believe the Arrow IV had a range of six boards and the long tom was three. These weapons were used by a scout mech calling in coordinates and the shell being fired there, not at a mech. I wish this was also the case in MW, but isn't.
I also wish they had "tandem" SRM's. These were 2 missles one right behind the other the first one was to pierce the armor while the second one detonated inside the mech itself. The actual damage wasn't much, but if you hit a gyro or an actuator they were well worth it.
There's my two cents.

IMO, MW has gotten prettier to look at, but a lot less fun to play ever since Ghost Bears Legacy.
I wish they'd bring back engine crits. And ammo explosions. And components that take up critical spaces, as the various weapons and heat sinks and ferro-fibrous armor and jump jets and XL engines and ammo and certain types of internal structure all did in previous versions of the game.
I'd LOVE to see physical combat between mechs. Punches, kicks, axes, the ability to pick up a handy tree trunk and WHOP that blankety blank Uller up side the head.
And most of all... (drum roll)... why the heck don't they bring back the Grim Reaper??? It's still my all-time favorite MW mech!

BB, You are correct in refering to piloting in the BT universe mechwarriors have to worry about all that wonderful stuff. MW3 was affected by some of that stuff. SRMs are supposed to fire in pairs not one after another as they do in MW4V and BK. Rain would have some effect on lasers and PPCs but not much. The energy weps used in BT use A LOT OF POWER I mean A F*** of a lot! Rain would affect the accuracy of ACs, not GRs since their slugs travel at hypersonic speeds.

I like the fact the Ballistic weapons are back. Energy weapons no longer rule the battle filed. That’s why I left Vengeance and BK. A few hits with X-pulse or ER Lg’s and your Mech was dead without even loosing a limb. Today I’m finding I like the game much better with receiving more damage before my death.
I agree about the gravity on different maps. That would be great if I could fly half way across the map. Also I’d sure like to slide side to side with my JJ’s to avoid incoming missile fire.
I haven’t used Missiles since MW2. Even with Bap it still takes too long for me to lock on. If I wanted to hang back and boat a few then it would be okay. But there is no Honor in that.. However today I had allot of fun loading up 9 CSTRK 4’s on my Thor, or 5 CSTRK 4’s on my Owens .{ Cougar Sux} A couple of fun mechs that can shred with using the all fire. Good thing about CSTRK is that I’ll only need to target the other Mech for a split second to acquire lock. Towards the end I was finding the sweet spot more often and racking in the kills. Nice. I don’t really have anything Bad to say about MW4 Mercenaries. Except for all them Honor-less Bustards shooting my legs off. I think the next one I catch doing that will fell my wrath for the rest of the game or until he says uncle.

hehe BB, its ok man i been reading this thread all the while ;) just been keeping my comments to myself. there are a few factors they could put in the game such as some stated above. but in alot of ways i am starting to get disapointed in some of the graphical abilities available so far today. to the realism comes more in the things i see and feel maybe. recoil of weapons. not just the impact of them but fireing them. at least they made the attempt to show this in mw3 if you noticed on the arms of some mechs such as the bushwacker if you fired ACs you noticed the recoil in the gun. i thought that was neat as hell. i think greater collision damage should be observed. these or Tons of metalic beasts ramming into each other!! lets see some dents damnit! some fire damage shown on the mechwould be nice too rather than just a dark patch. maybe some melted spots due to laser fire. how about bringing back leg damage due to great falls? like in mw2. for me the more details the better. i feel a game should be such that you are totaly convinced that it is real becuse what you see, hear and the reactions seem real. however this is most likly a pipe dream for some time becuse i dont think the average consumer has the hardware to run a game setup this way. and besides the complications creating it would be outstanding. could you imagine the code involved in how objects relate to each other!? and if MS did it it would be mw2025 or something lol. i guess for now though just weapon recoils or something relflecing it, leg damage for drops from large hights, critiical damage to weapon and mechanical systems might be enough for now. hmmm could you image if you knocked out the servo controls to a targeting system? would have to use the turning only to try to hit your target hehe. i know some of it sounds like a pain in a game, but could you imagine the battle stories that would come of it? " i had this out, one leg missing and was about critical and i got lock and blew his servoes out and was able to finish him off! YAY!" hehe anyhow... i guess that was one of my disapointments i stated before about mercs. and mw4 in general. i felt mw3 seemed a bit more realistic in alot of ways then mw4 does. but mw4 went more towards an arcade route then mw3 did. after all mw3 was desighned by ppl who do nothing but simulations anyhow. ( think i read that somewhere...) and MS makes windows!!! god that should say enough LOL. ;)
<S> to all and have a happy holidays...

No shit BK, MW3 rocked. All mechs had recoil even if the wep was not originally put on a certain mech. The recoil from the GR was good, each AC had its own recoil. ER/PPCs had recoil. Mechs that sustained heavy damage had holes in their armor. But DFA and ramming had no effect on your oponent. If you jump jetted really high and hit the ground your legs would get some damge.
IN MW2 Mercs I found a trick with JJs...By tapping the J button really fast you could get more air time and not use as much of the jets charge.
MW4 seems to have taken the dark damaged areas from MW2 Mercs.

[quote="Big Benn"]One thing that I think should be removed is the impact effect of the large laser. Lasers burn, not physically strike or impact./quote]
Lasers Melt armor. Armor falls off of Mech (in rivulets is most prevalent in novels I believe) Losing some tonnage in armor could simulate a hit, quiaff? That's why the BT pilots wouldn't last against Mechwarriors. They loose a ton of armor, they tend to fall over. We just shoot back.

Neg. When hit by lasers a mech will lose some armor, but not enough to make it fall over. If the laser amputates an arm the mech will either stuble or fall depending on the skill of the pilot or if there is any gyro damage. And in BT a downed mech is still capable of hitting a target.
BB, you have a point about changing the look of a mech depending on its weapons loadout. Clan mechs weapons are in "pods" in other words one can easily swap its weps, but the mech would still look the same. In an IS mech however the appearance would change. Also altering the appearance of the mech would take a lot of progaming. I know in Starseige if you changed a HERCs(Sort of a mech, but smaller) weapons you could see the different configuration.
