I setup a server and played for about an hour. Not too bad at all. There's alot of places to hide in the jungle,
. I played as a US Sniper and made mincemeat out of the CSers (Vietcong) that joined my server. You know who they are too, they just hop around all over the map, no plan, no tactics at all. Good thing there's no grenades in the demo, lol. At least none that I saw.
DL it and check it out, you might just be surprised and like it. If you like the GR jungle maps, you will certainly like this.

I have had my eye on this for a while - but stopped when the dev team confirmed no iron sights. up until that point it looked promising...
What do you think SB?

I love the screens, and on my parents' new 1.8gig P4, I'd love to play, but the download isn't working
Once you hit Download on the popup, it just says the server isnt' responding.

if you use a link in a browser and it comes up like that, it is likely the ftp server is full. for some reason browsers do not pass through ftp server full messages and just display the regular page not found...

I've been playing Vietcong online ALL DAY! Its a fantastic game, very realistic. It runs like a dream on my 1.8g P4 w/ GeForce2. No stutters or graphical errors at all. VC and Army units are easy to distinguish, and each's camoflage (sp) works very well. If you don't move, they WON'T see you. The demo multiplayer is a blast and runs great. I highly recommend all of our ground forces guys to check this one out!
PS- There are grenades, and yes you can hold the pin too long

no iron sights = not realistic... you would think the devs would have gotten a clue from all the games that are now putting them in.
that does not mean it is not fun, like GR...

what do you mean no iron sights? They have a sight mode, which i think is pretty good, althought thats probably not what you mean.

Actually alot of servers play in the "Vietnam" mode, which removes all HUD items except for the team score. Your rounds remaining, clips, and reticle all disappear. Its pretty darn tough!

Well I tried to download the darn thing and my computer locked up quicker than a virgin on prom night. Man this is driving me crazy. My windows directory is hanging on by a thread and bubble gum with spit. I can't do a defrag cause my scan disk just won't repair several problems. I have more lost fragments than a green LT. lost in the jungles of Vietnam. And man don't even think of mentioning that so called restore function, trust me my computer is worse off than ever. Plus how can I forget CITRIX, my wife needs it to do work at home, man that program is a pain in my whole body. I talked to her companies tech guys and she told me I need to start fresh with XP pro. That program does not work with WINME. Now she tells me. Now that I've gotten that out I feel better, oh I dare not even go into my registery for fear of just totally junking my pc. So I wait patiently for the ME restore disk Micron will send and I will be a happy man for now anyway. This is the one time I can't wait for chirstmas to end.

WinME = old school.

DA,
You might be better off just going out and getting WinXP Pro for the long run. You can get WinXP Pro online for about $130 with the purchase of hardware(anything from a cable to a hard drive). You will have less headaches with WinXP and have the latest OS installed. I know you probably don't want to spend any more money than you have to, but come on man, WinME is old school now.

DA,
I agree with softball... Plus if you have hard drive errors that scandisk can not fix it is likely you have lost data anyway.
You are gonna have to buy a new hard drive - you should see about getting one while some sales are on, or you can look on ebay as well...

Hey if it were up to me right now I would have a new system, at the very least a new hdd XP PRO installed with more memory to boot. Contrary to popular beliefs its the misses and I don't know how to get thru to her but I do understand where she is coming from. After to christmas. Well we will see.

Just say.....

Just tell her the HD is bad(Which it might be), all the data is lost, and you have to reformat. If it's just music, then I guess you will be busy DLing songs for her. She just has to know that when a computer component goes bad, it's out of your hands. You gotta do what you gotta do man.
Good luck.
