NBT Servers hit by SQL worm last night

According to a post on the NBT-Mercs Forum (Players Lounge), the NBT servers were affected last night and this morning by some new SQL worm that was spreading across networks all over the world.
One guy on the forums reports seeing pings of 1000 on the NBT servers. DP says it was still going on this morning, but seems to be okay now.

Why in the hell would SQL be installed on game servers???

In the thread about it on NBT-Mercs, DP says "My hosting servers were affected because the NY hub was still being creamed by this."
Evidently, it was a world-wide event.

Oh, I see - I *can't* delete them. Oh well. Something weird seems to be going on here, too - when I clicked to submit my initial reply, nothing happened... it just sat there... and sat there... and, ya know, sat there... so I clicked STOP, and then clicked Submit again... and it sat there... etc etc etc...
Oh, well, I can at least edit a couple of them. :band:

it is because you clicked stop and submitted it again... the post actually did post, but the confirmation screen was slow in coming back to you...
more on this virus - hopefully they did not have sql installed on the servers (no need that i can see) but most if not all isp's shut off access at one time or another, so some stuff was not availbale depending upon the isp. so the servers were not likley hit by the virus - rather the data center shut off access...

Seems to have been an IE6/Windows problem - while just browsing the forums here, I had to shut down IE6 and restart it a few times just to get it to go from one thread to the next. Same deal happens frequently over at NBT-Mercs.
I'm running Mandrake Linux 9.0 at the moment, though (I've got a triple boot setup with MDK 9.0, Lycoris Desktop LX, and WinME), and both forums are smoooooooth. Yay, Linux!
