League Games

Post by Falker »

I’ve been trying to keep an eye out on the symptoms that keep me from having a good launch.

Here are the ones that are a sure indication

(1) Having a hard time getting in the server to begin with.
(2) Chat locked up in the drop menu.
(2) I won’t be able to click in for readiness to launch.
(4) Other players getting kicked.
(5) Me getting Kicked.
(6) Player come back from the game to the drop window and I’m showing that their still dropped in the game.

Last night I’ve seen a few more new ones

(1) Clicking in ready to launch. Says I'm ready but the box next to my name needs to be checked again. I’ll check the box and the Waiting button goes back to Ready. I’ll click ready, and the box next to my name need to get checked. And so on and so on and so on………..

(2) Finally dropping in the game under the allowed time limit. But it says I'm waiting for respawn ?

( 3) And finally , this is one that just dawned on me that I think we should all keep an eye out for. Loosing the time to launch before the launch has happened. Once I see I lost the time to launch ticking down. It’s a sure bet that I’ll lose other things as well.

In a league game , I think that if there Was a successful launch the first time , that the pilots in that launch should keep their readiness for another drop. Because if I Ever encounter more symptoms like the ones listed above, I’ll pretty much know it will prevent me from enjoying a full League game. So I’m just going to give up right there and let someone else take my place instead of trying to make it happen. With only 10 minutes between drops I’m not going to take up the whole 10 minutes just to fined out in the end that I was unable to drop with my team mates. I think other pilots should keep their own records of drop errors as well. I like league drops, but keeping everybody happy comes first.

NBT SERVERS

I’m not sure if this has anything to do with drop errors but I counted the people on NBT servers last night and saw that there were up to 79 pilots. They might be over expanding them self a bit trying to host up so many games. I think that the Teams at NBT should have their own choice at either hosting a league game up at their own server Or dropping at NBT server and that the finial decision on which server to join should be made before the initial league drop.

I wonder if NBT servers is running on a Lan-network , or individuals sitting at home offering their computers for NBT use. If the later , It would be a good idea to keep an eye out on which servers run the best. As someone else said . I haven't had a problem dropping on NBT Loki yet.

Boy George, I think he's got it!
Urethra! I just had an epiphany. (That or I passed a kidney stone)
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
When you connect, your info is shared with host PC.
When you chat, info is shared.
When you select Mechs, info is shared.
When you click ready and drop begins, even the decals have to be shared.
Etc, etc.
Could it be that with 16 people trying to connect inside of two minutes, that there might be at least a couple of simultaneous connects? Could this shared info between everybody be what is causing the lock-ups? Should we practice joing the servers one at a time?

Sorry if I shared too much,
Fethr

Actually Feather thats probably a good idea. It is more than likely that with that many players trying to join or drop into a game all at once that there wouldnt be a packet collision maybe, or even lost packets. Either one would be enough to fubar a persons mercs. Is Food for thought, thats for sure.
