I actually enjoy playing Mercs, but am trying to get a life and maybe a girlfriend, cause I doubt hiring a prostitute will help with my chronic lonliness.
Oh well I'll just slap myself with a stick until I get over liking this one chick. Damnit!
That's it I am just going to tear my heart out and stuff it down the garbage disposal.

Mercs has become a tedious bore. Same tired old mechs, same tired old weapons, same tired old gameplay, over and over and over and, for example, over.
The patch almost breathed some life back into the game, but ultimately it was too little, too late.
The only thing that could rekindle my (currently dead and buried) interest in non-League Mercs (at least in league play Assault Mech Madness is kept somewhat in check) would be the inclusion of Weapons Spread (bye bye to quad ERPPC alpha strikes to the CT, thank you very freaking much) and, oh, say, another FIFTY or so more mechs (out of the HUNDREDS available), along with a more 'authentic to the source material' selection of weapons. Which I'm sure is bound to happen any day now.
Bottom line: apart from league drops or practice sessions, I'd rather play MegaMek.

Well like my Viking mate says the 151 has basically given up on Mercs. Most are playing Ghost Recon or Ravenshield. It seems perverse but the reason we are not playing Mercs is because most of us are long time BTech fans and the sad decline of MW into the current no-brainer arcade version just does not sit well. I occasionally pop into the Fort but sadly never see any black and gold
I live in hope that the ghost of Kerensky will hear our prayers and send a patch or pack to breath life into the game.

Crickett, What are the odds of getting you to drop a game of MegaMek for a few quick funsies?
See what I mean? Since the Fort is AWOL, I'll be on the Circus Maximus server till I get tired of it again. (Just in case anybody wants to play Mercs)

If yall are getting tired of long range battles , there's another league that’s called the Brawling League. No PPC's or hiding behind hills. Just close up in your face ( 6 vs. 6 to 10 vs .10 ) toe to toe BRAWLING ~ The league is under MWL ,
If your tired of Assault Mechs , well there’s the MWL 3 vs. 3 league. You can take ~~ >
3 lights OR
2 lights, 1 medium OR
1 light, 2 mediums OR
2 lights, 1 heavy OR
1 light, 1 medium, 1 heavy
What can I say , If you guys don't peak an interest in this then your complaints are false , and in reality you'd rather do something else besides play MW4 Merc
I'd like to say that someday we'll get more Mechs and Weapons , but who knows. They'll probably save all the good stuff for the X-Box

Sorry about last night Falker, ViktorK, Say Puft, and Thor. I got on about 7:30, but the wife pulled me away to talk about the budget. Y'all had moved on by the time I got BTK. I hopped on the Circus Maximus server for a bit and listened to the lads playin MegaMek. Got bored, went and had my glass of milk, got caught up on the war, and went to bed at a respectable hour.
I figure those that didn't already get called up are probably watching the real deal rather than playin it. ELH was still here after MW3 came out and flopped, it'll still be here when (and if) things ever get better.
Cheer up Bud, things could be worse. At least somebody is online, playing something somewhere. What they're playin might sound slightly more fun that watching paint dry, but they are there. Speaking of paint drying, Mince is dying to play MegaMek. He's even got me convinced I need to learn real BT. I dunno, I like manly games that involve a manly stick in my hand.
:play
hehe

Oh and , Yeah ! You were there for practice Fether, ( as usual) I heard Stay Puft came on comms for a sec. VictorK and the elusive Thor has also made a show of appearance. Keep it up ! , some day we will fight side by side in a live or die battle. I’m also looking forward to winging Pain in battle as well. Will do it . Just might not happen right away. But I’ll be there when it does , and I hope you will too bro.
See you next week man.

I have also found myself unable to hit the Fort as often as I would like. I have checked in comms a few times in the past couple weeks, but it's usually been after folks have signed out, or I am too late to get in on the MegaMek game. The recent window of good weather around here gave me some time to work on my lawn after I got home from work- I nuked my whole property last fall and reseeded the entire place. It came up pretty well but I've had to give it some attention now that the warm days decided to show up.
I did run Megamek on "hotseat" to play a game against myself, and I was pretty amazed at how well it works. I did find that I didn't have as good grasp of the terrain, but I think playing with miniatures has spoiled me on reading the hex maps a bit. My friends and I use 3-D terrain and use simultaneous movement rules, so its tough to go back to reading the hex maps & using the standard mode of turn phases. Has anyone ever head if there are any kind of MegaMek leagues or campaign-type games?
I was in the Fort awhile ago and was in the midst of a bunch of Ghost Bears. Man, those guys stuck together and hit hard.
I don't think I am quite as disgusted with Mercs as much as some of you guys seem to be. I was happy with the slight improvement in some of the maps- at least they are even prettier to look at. I wish that installing all the versions, packs, and maps wouldn't be such a chore. And all of those assault boat free for all servers wear me out, too. It's nice that most league drops don't allow a lot of assault boats, but of course, drops come and go at irregular intervals and there's not room for everyone in each drop. I have found a bit of fun in the NBT servers- yeah, they are squirrelly but at least they are no respawn and I have seen some folks take smaller class mechs. I played a couple of games late last nite and had a decent time. It's nice if the server is set for waves so that once one side wins, it just restarts without having to go back to the lobby.
Well, let's keep in touch one way or another- if not in the Fort, at least for some fun chat in comms or here on the forum.

MegaMek is the nearest thing to the Battletech board game thus far created for the PC. It's essentially a turn-based strategy game, using Battlemechs, Tanks and other vehicles, Battle Armor, Jump Troops, etc. It can be found at:

OK, I had a lucky win on my lunch break (against somebody I won't name, but is higher up the food chain than I). I can see me playing this. It has about as much appeal for me as playing with a breast cancer patient's tits, but it is a fun relaxing way to hang out. Kinda nice to do something Mech related, and be able to chat and shoot the bull at the same time. I'm game. Just let me get a few more of these lunch games under my belt, and I'll be ready to get publicly humiliated and spanked by the rest of you guys.
